Yes, that's right. Just like Peter Jackson's production of The Hobbit, I've found so much raw material to work with that I decided to break what was originally a single story into two, and now three sections.

As I reported yesterday, in addition to being front-paged here at dKos and at Eclectablog, the first chart went utterly viral, hitting everything from Alternet and Balloon Juice to the New Civil Rights Movement, Dan Savage and even (and it doesn't get more surreal than this) Neil Gaiman by way of Wil Wheaton.

dKos itself even did an email alert blast thingie with it.

Anyway, the second chart didn't receive quite as much hoopla, but that's fine.

Still, this has turned into a strange, mini-calling of sorts, so I've decided to complete the "trilogy". Below the fold, I present The Republican Rape Advisory Chart: Volume III.

WARNING: This one's a doozie.

To fight back against the Republican war on women, please contribute to the Daily Kos-endorsed women who are running for House and Senate.
In general, I'd recommend helping out ANY of the Democrats running against the scumbags who made the quotes or, alternately, Planned Parenthood, RAINN or the Jamie Leigh Foundation, all of which seem appropriate.

Planned Parenthood
Rape, Abuse & Incest National Network
The Jamie Leigh Foundation

Anyone familiar with the name Jamie Leigh Jones knows that she's the young woman referred to in the final listing in the chart above--she's the one who charged KBR employees with brutalizing her (and KBR itself with covering it up) in Iraq, and then endured a multi-year battle to take her case to court. Below is the most riveting 10 minutes of questioning I've ever witnessed, by Minnesota Senator Al Franken of a KBR attorney:

Since this is the "final chapter" in this series (though, tragically, not in real life), I'm embedding Volumes I and II right here as well--you're gonna have to scroll a lonnnnng way to post comments, I'm afraid. As an added "bonus", Volume I has also been modified to match the formatting of the other two, including source attribution for each of the quotes:

But wait, there's more!

I'm also embedding the "Compleat" Republican Party Rape Advisory Chart--all three volumes in one massive image file! The perfect holiday gift, suitable for framing...or something like that.

Anyway, you'll have to click to see this one full-size; it's just too damned big, thanks to the nearly ENDLESS number of horrifyingly offensive, medically inaccurate and flat-out ugly statements made and votes cast about rape-related issues by the Republican Party over the past few years:

Republican Party Rape Advisory Chart (Volumes I - III Compleat)
Anyway, as noted at the bottom of Volume III, I'm now done with this strange, disturbing but hopefully helpful project, but since there's SO MANY MORE examples of Republicans saying awful things about the subject, I'd advise checking out Days Without a GOP Rape Mention, which is keeping an ongoing archive of such things. I had nothing to do with that site; it was inspired by Stephen Colbert's fantastic takedown of the Republican Party the other evening.
Extra props to connecticutie, who came up with the "terror/rape chart" idea in the first place...give her blog some love, willya?
And with that, I think I'll take several long, hot showers to clean the slime of researching all of these quotes off of me.

More Tagging tips:

A tag is a way to search for this diary. If someone is searching for "Barack Obama," is this a diary they'd be trying to find?

Use a person's full name, without any title. Senator Obama may become President Obama, and Michelle Obama might run for office.

If your diary covers an election or elected official, use election tags, which are generally the state abbreviation followed by the office. CA-01 is the first district House seat. CA-Sen covers both senate races. NY-GOV covers the New York governor's race.

Tags do not compound: that is, "education reform" is a completely different tag from "education". A tag like "reform" alone is probably not meaningful.

Consider if one or more of these tags fits your diary: Civil Rights, Community, Congress, Culture, Economy, Education, Elections, Energy, Environment, Health Care, International, Labor, Law, Media, Meta, National Security, Science, Transportation, or White House. If your diary is specific to a state, consider adding the state (California, Texas, etc). Keep in mind, though, that there are many wonderful and important diaries that don't fit in any of these tags. Don't worry if yours doesn't.

You can add a private note to this diary when hotlisting it:

The women was raped. Maybe ganged raped. Then when she said this happened she was put  in a box and told to shut the fuck up.

There was a women I cared about a lot. She served in the first Gulf War. She was raped time and time again while in service to her nation. I wish I was a better person. Honestly I wasn't there for her.

When somebody tells you something like this, well honestly I was not equipped to deal with it.

A trifecta with 21 horrifying quotes, 2 disgusting policies, spanning 22 years, naming 51 individuals and indicting ~250 unnamed representatives of the people in our Senate and House (some overlap in the unnamed.)
The only number I'll add is 31: the number of states that allow rapists custody and visitation rights.

As a rape survivor, I thank you for giving all of us Dems an easy way to demonstrate just how anti-woman the GOP is. I am against abortion in cases of rape (reported or not, marital or date or not, etc.) in only one currently hypothetical situation: when medical science permits a zygote or fetus to be extracted from the rape survivor and be forcibly implanted in the rapist, who then must carry to term and undergo a caesarian with no anaesthesia.

    I am pro-choice. Period.

I knew someone else that happened to, who had to have reconstructive surgery.

Consenting sex is a beautiful thing. Even if Kinky stuff can be wonderful for interested parties.

But forcing an unwilling partner will injure them. Period.

People can hurt each other in consenting encounters, but when there is force, it is inevitable. Women can be made permanently sterile from the damage done to them, the beating, or even damage done to their system by drugs like GHB.

It isn't uncommon for women to develop other gynecological health problems after an assualt, like very painful menstrual cycles, cysts, vulvadynia, and IBS. This is in addition to the psychological trauma and possibly PTSD.

For these assholes in office, they think [note abuse of the verb for thought] that Rape is a one time incident for the survivor.

        It isn't.

It changes your life forever. It is like the person you were died, and now you are someone else. It is a house sized rock in your personal river of time, it changes the course of your life. It is a moment, or a situation, that you constantly live around.

It forever changes how you see people in general, how you contextualize the world, interpersonal relationships, personal security, sexuality, safety, sanity, and your own self worth.

But these morons can't get comprehend that. They pretend that rapists are raping an inanimate object. Because good girls don't get raped. And bad girls aren't really people. Problem solved.

Their objectification of Rape Survivors is a clear representation of their 2-dimensional understanding of women, and women's issues, and the fact that they do not recognize our innate humanity.

      •  It happens - happened to someone I know (0+ / 0-)

A young woman of my acquaintance was raped for hours by one bastard, who used, among other things, her curling iron while it was hot. He left her for dead. She came to, managed to drag herself to the ER, and had a rape kit done. The injuries to her are extensuve. She will never be able to bear children. She needed multiple surgeries and ongoing medical therapy to try to restore some of her soft tissues from their badly burned state.

Oh, and she is very religious - Catholic. She was a virgin. She was "saving herself" for marriage. Ît's that one Republican's scenario to a T. And her parents told her that because she was no longer a virgin, she had to marry the rapist. (She did not.) At least she didn't get pregnant.

  •  Thanks, but I'm not sure including that (0+ / 0-)

vid of Jamie Leigh Jones exactly helps our case:

The media (me included) largely wrote this off as a sign that KBR was headed to the gutter to disparage a rape victim. But now that the case has gone to trial, it's clear that KBR wasn't just trying to scare Jones into settling. The court filings portray a very different version of the story. Here are some of the most sensational claims Jones has made, contrasted with the evidence that has emerged at trial
    •  I heard that she lost her case, but that wasn't (0+ / 0-)

...the point of Franken's amendment. The whole point is that the company shouldn't be allowed to deny the right to a trial for claims of violation of basic civil rights, period.

The article you link to fails to mention that the original medical examination conducted at the army medical facility has no chain of custody because the test and records were handed over to KBR security and tampered with; the Congressman who rescued Jones wasn't allowed to testify about what he found at the time, and so forth.

However, again, the larger issue is that the company tried to prevent her from even taking a rape case to trial due to a contract she had signed--and 30 Republican Senators said, "Yup, that's the free market for ya, what're ya gonna do?"

However, I've modified the wording in the chart to more accurately reflect the case.

First of all GHB or Rohypnal doesn't stay in the system very long.

It is difficult to estimate just how many flunitrazepam-facilitated rapes have occurred. Very often, biological samples are taken from the victim at a time when the effects of the drug have already passed and only residual amounts remain in the body fluids. These residual amounts are difficult, and sometimes impossible, to detect using standard screening assays used in most countries. If flunitrazepam exposure is to be detected at all, urine samples need to be collected within 72 hours and subjected to sensitive analytical tests. The problem is compounded by the onset of amnesia after ingestion of the drug, which causes the victim to be uncertain about the facts surrounding the rape. This uncertainty may lead to critical delays or even reluctance to report the rape and provide appropriate biological samples for testing. If a person suspects that he or she is the victim of a flunitrazepam-facilitated rape, he or she should get laboratory testing for flunitrazepam as soon as possible. In recent news, it has been discovered that scientists can now detect flunitrazepam and related compounds in urine at least up to 5 days after administration of a single dose of Rohypnol and up to a month in hair.[26]
GHB can be created using such ingredients as floor stripper. It is by far more toxic, and easier to come by.  It is a neurotoxin and it can damage the liver in addition to what can happen to a person while unconscious.

Sadly her story has elements common to military rape cases.  This is what makes her account seem so believable, because it follows the pattern.

And the smear campaign about her being bipolar or having some other mental health issue, true or not is the oldest one in the book. "The Bitch Be Crazy!" defense.

As far as feeling debilitated, and yet, having some success in life, like having children and getting a degree. Many Rape Survivors do all those things.

You can have good days, and bad months after that. That's the problem with Rape Related PTSD. You can often function well enough to get some things done. But that doesn't mean you don't go home most days and crawl into a dark space and assume the fetal position to cry your eyes out, or throw a fit, or whatever habits you create to facilitate long term psychological detoxification after such a traumatic event.

Sometimes survivors can achieve amazing success on the surface. But the truth only comes out later, from their children or spouses, after their death, or a divorce, or when they have to enter into rehab or some such.

Women are amazingly strong like that.

I appreciate the work that Mother Jones did on this case, maybe they are right, but I remain skeptical and in favor of Ms Jones at this time.

As he went out the door, outraged, he asked, "What is wrong with them?  Who imagines and plans for this?  Are they rapists themselves?  What the hell!!"

I told him I truly think it says less about their own rape fantasies than about just how little they regard women--just how objectified and depersonalized women are to them.
