I think we are being misled into fighting issues which are only peripheral.
Race is a means to get what they want, but it is not the core issue.
What do they want? Who are "they"? Those are the questions ...
Quite frankly, it is class warfare. They don't have a life agenda, they don't a family life agenda, they don't truly want states to setup medicare like systems, they don't care which color gets the job done ... they want their money safe from the people they have stolen it from.
If you have over a billion dollars, and you probably earn a 100 mill a year, why would you pay an extra 3-20 per cent tax when you when you can buy the congress much cheaper? There will be so many congress folks and senators willing to do your bidding for the right price. And you can find the analysts to find and define the wedge issues which can neatly divide the electorate to avoid anything from happening.
The rich have their money. They may want to grow it, but it is more important for them to secure what they already have too. Doesn't gridlock work for them better than a government doing something?
And come to think of it, how did race become an issue? How did rape become an issue? Why are we fixated on this? With Clinton, it was lying under oath and killing Vince Foster before that. With Gore, it was the internet he did not create. With Kerry, it was the war wounds he faked. Well Obama kicked their butt despite the kenyan muslim birther card so they of course have to ratchet it up, don't they? Its a buyers market, they will sell whatever we are willing to buy and as of this week, it is race and rape, as long as they can distract us from what they are doing.
While one facebook founder may go to Singapore to avoid paying taxes, not all these rich want to go away. America gives them the best infrastructure (and yes healthcare) in the world, the best politicians money can buy, and even though they may want factories in China, none of them is going to move and live in China. They are here and will continue manipulating the system to protect and grow their wealth. We need to figure out how to save the system from their constant 'fixes'.
So yes, while race matters, choice matters, equal rights matter, and their are many many other issues that matter, but what matters the most is an equitable system which only you can build with your vote and then you can truly say ... they did not 'build that'.
Lets get on with the work ... vote, get out the vote, campaign ... whatever it takes !!

Alright, having gotten some heat for this diary, and realizing the point may not be put as eloquently, here's an addendum.
The point is ... what is the underlying root cause for these divisive issues? And what are the issues which are created to divert your attention? Tomorrow if Romney "truly" converts to all the progressive social issues, are we going to forget what he really wants?
If you can educate just one person, then do it about the issues which will be true from campaign to campaign, not something which is valid only for this term ... those are important too, but take a long term view. We are not going to have a kenyan muslim issue in the next election but we will still have Koch Brothers and Karl Rove.
