The Kent County News is a small weekly on the Eastern Shore of Md.
Andy Harris, one-term Congressman elected in the teabag wave in 2010, has refused to debate any of the other candidates.
It looks like the substitute "town hall" Harris said he'd hold around now has been washed out
.
Nevertheless, the newspaper conducted brief interviews with Harris and Democratic challenger John LaFerla and has posted a series of brief, 5-minute videos.
It could have been a fascinating campaign centered on health care -- both LaFerla and Harris are doctors. LaFerla delivers babies; Harris is a gynecological anethesiologist.
Instead, Harris hides behind rhetorical questions and conveniently forgets that nine counties in his district are the "medically underserved" rural Eastern Shore.
Note: Harris has, as far as can be determined, been tethered to Johns Hopkins since his med school days. It also appears he took advantage of federal help with his schooling, since he has referred to in press releases as "being commissioned" in 1988. That would be the Naval Reserve, not the regular navy.
