Hi. This will be short. My Mom got a strange letter in the mail and I'm curious how widespread it is across the country. The letter is from a group calling itself "Americans for Limited Government" with an address at 9900 Main Street, Suite 303, Fairfax, VA 22031. Their website is http://getliberty.org/. Clearly a Republican or Libertarian outfit. Below is a picture of the letter (with names blurred to protect the privacy of my Mom's neighbors, something AFLG does not seem worried about).
As you can see, it has what it calls a "Vote History Audit" that lists the full names and addresses of her neighbors and whether or not they voted in 2008 and 2010. For 2012, it says "Pending." Then it promises to send out an updated list after the 2012 elections.
The only thing I can figure is that they have identified this as a Republican-leaning neighborhood. So it figures if it can use neighborly pressure to shame people into voting (hence the promise to send out an update after the 2012 elections), they will more than likely vote Republican. If that's not it, I have no idea what the point of the letter was.
I heard from one other friend also from here (Madison, IN) who received the same letter. And like my Mom, he said the information was wrong for both he and his wife. How prevalent are these letters around the country?
