I picked this up from ThinkProgress and at first glance, I knew I'd read (and written) about this jerkface before. This is the catholic bishop from Peoria who compared Obama to Hitler, which made the news back in April. And with the expected result; as far as I know, the IRS let his blatant political advocacy slide. I expect that to continue, even as he orders the priests in his diocese to read his anti-Obama screed from their pulpits.

In a letter, Jenky told the priests in his diocese “[b]y virtue of your vow of obedience to me as your Bishop, I require that this letter be personally read by each celebrating priest at each Weekend Mass, November 3/4.” The letter leaves little doubt that Jenky wants Obama out of the White House:
Do you really want to know what he said? After castigating Obama and Senate Democrats over the contraception rules that various catholic organizations have complained about, he seeks to threaten his diocese with hell if they don't vote for RMoney.
For those who hope for salvation, no political loyalty can ever take precedence over loyalty to the Lord Jesus Christ and to his Gospel of Life. God is not mocked, and as the Bible clearly teaches, after this passing instant of life on earth, God’s great mercy in time will give way to God’s perfect judgment in eternity.
ThinkProgress also points out, though, that the bishop's flock is largely supportive of the health care legislation he's railing against, so perhaps those sheep will not
act like sheep at the polls. They also point out another, ahem, moral failing in progress.
Earlier this year, the U.S. Conference of Catholic Bishops proclaimed that the federal budget must place “[t]he needs of those who are hungry and homeless, without work or in poverty” first — adding that the Republican budget authored by vice presidential candidate Paul Ryan “fails to meet these moral criteria.” Pope Benedict XVI, for his part, called for more robust government involvement to combat wealth inequality. Yet Jenky seems completely unmoved by these prongs of Catholic doctrine.
Well, you know how it is. They read 'the poor you will always have with you'; some read it as an instruction to aid the poor, some read it as license to dismiss them. I think we know on which side the illustrious bishop falls.
