In an apocalyptic proclamation over on Redstate, Erik Erickson sounds like he's trying to prepare the delusional wing nuts for, what we have known for some time, the inevitable defeat of Mitt Romney.  For months now the right has been whipping up their network of nearly psychotic revolutionary warriors into a blood curdling frenzy, as they prepare for the ultimate good VS evil Armageddon election.  And now that reality is setting in on those propagandists, they have to figure out a way to wind these crazies down so they don't go off and do what they normally do, something that is really really stupid.

Erickson tries to wind them down by channeling god, and telling them that this election isn't all that important anyway.

Excerpts below the fold.

Well, you just can't come out and tell these people they're about to get their asses kicked at the polls, so you at least have to start out with the lie you've been telling them for months.

I believe Mitt Romney will win on election day. I’m somewhat stunned to be writing that as I never really thought he could win until about the moment Clint Eastwood trotted out on stage at the Republican National Convention with that empty chair.
Yes Sir!  Ole Clint talking to an empty chair is what the wing nuts could really relate to.  A one sided conversation with no opposing view and completely devoid of facts, pretty much sums up today's Republican Party all right.

But now you have to change the subject from winning and what you'll do under the new administration to, there's more important things in life than this silly election.

People on the left are convinced if Mitt Romney wins blacks will be put in chains out in cotton fields and uteruses will be locked up.

People on the right are convinced if Barack Obama wins the stars and stripes will come down, the red banner of communism will go up, and this American experiment will be promptly concluded.

My world view is pretty simple. I think this world is destined to go to hell in a hand basket by design. I think things are supposed to go to pot. So if Barack Obama wins, I won’t be upset. If Mitt Romney wins, I won’t be running through the streets cheering. I think, either way, it is all part of the design.

Yep, forget all that stuff about if Obama wins this election, they will start hauling people away to FEMA internment camps, they'll be kicking down your door to take your guns away, the death panels will be hunting down grandma in the middle of the night...  It's all part of God's plan, so don't worry about it.
God is sovereign and He is in charge and He will return. That is my hope and my ever present expectation.

We often get so wrapped up in the view of things at ground level, we forget to look at the world from 50,000 feet. In the historic, grand scheme of things, this too will end.

When I wake up on Wednesday morning, I’m still going to have my wife. I’m still going to have my kids. I’m still going to have my family. And I’m still going to have my God. So will you.

I don't mean to spoil your rapture preparations, but I think your God is trying to tell you something about what type of creature your hate filled, fact denying, bald face lying, voter suppressing party has turned into, and he's trying to keep your slimy hands off the reigns of government.
Too many of my friends have gotten so focused on the outcome and are so convinced the country as they know it is over if the other side wins that they are joyless to be around right now. They are full of dread and worry and fear. They’ve lost their sense of humor. They cannot laugh at themselves, their side, or much of anything. They are mad at others, myself included, for not being as worked up as they are. The frenzy has become a purity test, not the conviction.

God is sovereign. And whether you are for Barack Obama or Mitt Romney, set your sights on God, not November 6th, and be happy. In four years, we really will do this all over again whether right now you think so or not. There is no permanence except in Heaven.

That last bold is his bold, not mine.  I think Erik needs to ask himself how these people who can't tell a fact from a pile of horse s%#t in the middle of the road, got worked up into this frenzy in the first place.  Maybe Erik is going the way of some other moderate Republicans who realize they've lost their party to a bunch of Tea Party crazies who have been transformed into brainless zombies doing as they are commanded to do, and he wants to transform his party into a legitimate opposition party that will work for the betterment of our country rather than for a few Oligarchs.  Nah! All the crap he's had on that site for the last several years says he's not at all sincere.

In the mean time, that's one hell of a GOTV speech you've got going there, I'm just glad you're on their side.

More Tagging tips:

A tag is a way to search for this diary. If someone is searching for "Barack Obama," is this a diary they'd be trying to find?

Use a person's full name, without any title. Senator Obama may become President Obama, and Michelle Obama might run for office.

If your diary covers an election or elected official, use election tags, which are generally the state abbreviation followed by the office. CA-01 is the first district House seat. CA-Sen covers both senate races. NY-GOV covers the New York governor's race.

Tags do not compound: that is, "education reform" is a completely different tag from "education". A tag like "reform" alone is probably not meaningful.

Consider if one or more of these tags fits your diary: Civil Rights, Community, Congress, Culture, Economy, Education, Elections, Energy, Environment, Health Care, International, Labor, Law, Media, Meta, National Security, Science, Transportation, or White House. If your diary is specific to a state, consider adding the state (California, Texas, etc). Keep in mind, though, that there are many wonderful and important diaries that don't fit in any of these tags. Don't worry if yours doesn't.
