In 2007, Romney said "We need as a Society, a Prohibition on abortion.
Notice, Romney admits his religion is not the reason he wants our entire Society to have a "Prohibition" on abortion -- rather he says it is his 'political' belief.
The next question would be: How would Romney enforce our "Society" having a "Prohibition on abortion?"
In order to, "as a Society, have a Prohibition on abortion" the Federal government would be in charge of enforcing Prohibition laws.
Here's what would most likely happen in order for the Fed Govt to enforce Prohibition Laws:
1) Women's private medical records would no longer be private (see ya 4th Amend) as they would be scrutinized by the Federal Govt to ensure Prohibition Laws on Abortion are not thwarted.
2) Doctors would have to report, to the Federal government, any time a woman's medically private pregnancy test tested positive.
3) Over-the-counter pregnancy tests would most likely be banned so the govt could track each and every positive pregnancy so as to ensure no women had a 'secret' abortion.
4) The once personally private medical procedure D&C (Dilation and curettage) would have to be justified to the Federal Government.
5) A women who has a miscarriage would have to prove she did not 'do something' that caused the mis-carriage so as to ensure the Prohibition on abortion.
6) No longer would a miscarriage be seen as a biological termination of pregnancy -- or as I sometimes say to zealots: "God's abortion" -- but would be seen as a means to by-pass Prohibition Laws on abortion.
7) Birth control pills would most likely be banned as some may say that Birth control pills could induce a miscarriage thus would thwart the Prohibition Laws on abortion.
8) Coat hanger purchases would have to be monitored to ensure Prohibition Laws on abortion were not circumvented.
Well, those are just some of the laws I thought could become Federal Laws if we "as a Society, have a Prohibition on abortion."
