Hey all Kos football Fans. I think it's absolutely essential to show some love for Robert Griffin III and the Washington Redskins as they host the Carolina Panthers today. Our very future may hinge on the outcome of this game. Discover why below the squiggle.
Besides the fact that Robert Griffin III (or RG3 as he is most referred to) has been having a very productive season so far and is turning around the fortunes of the flailing Redskins, this game may be a bellweather of election night. Since the Redskins moved to the nation's capital, they have played 18 home games immediately prior to the presidential election, and in those games every game in which the Redskins emerged victorious, the incumbent party in the White House has won the election. This has happened nine times. However, in the games just prior to the election which the Redskins lost (which was also nine games), the incumbent party in the White House has lost all but one election; that exception being 2004, in which the Packers handily defeated the Redskins yet George W. Bush won re-election.
Today's game pits the 3-5 Redskins against the 1-6 Carolina Panthers, who are led by last year's rookie QB phenom Cam Newton. Despite the Panthers' bad record, they have lost five of their six games by less than 6 points, including two losses by game winning field goals to the Atlanta Falcons and Chicago Bears. So if trends hold up, this game should be close throughout.
Like I said, lets show some love for RGIII as he attempts to pull out a huge victory today. Go REDSKINS!!!
