My ballot is all ready to go (we have all mail voting here in Seattle) and I'll drop it in the ballot box tomorrow morning.
I've spent probably too much time watching different TV shows, I've read too many polls. I keep going back to Intrade to sooth myself whenever the stories of the voter suppression efforts are highlighted or something looks particularly good for the republicans. I can't help but hope that the folks who put up their money really do have a good feeling for what's going to happen on Tuesday. (Right now Obama is at 65% and Romney at 35% on Intrade.)
I cannot imagine what this country would be like if Romney won. When Bush "won" in 2000 I thought that was the end of democracy as I knew it (a strangely prescient thought) and here we are with someone even worse for our country close to having nuclear launch codes and the ability to begin more wars and who would sell off our government piece by piece to his yacht club buddies.
It's really hard for me to wrap my head around the fact that half of the country truly believes he would be better for America. That's one of those hard truths I have trouble accepting. I look at the facts - the legislative accomplishments, the expansion of civil rights, the desire to embrace new ways of fueling our economy and our cars - and I think "this is obvious, of course Obama is the better choice."
But out there are literally millions of people who come to exactly the opposite conclusion. I believe they are deluded. They think I am.
Vote guys. You save America if you vote.
