I am so angry at Obama for doing so poorly in the first debate. It is clear this will lose him the election. This should never have been close! But it is a virtual dead heat and I think Romney will win in the end. And even worse, Obama has lost us the Senate!
SNARK!
Seriously, as I said months ago, Obama pretty much had it in the bag from the start. Romney had no chance. It may have inched closer than I had initially predicted, but in the end it winds up where it always should have been. An ass whipping of racist bigots in America. Also no surprise: Republicans tried stealing it where they could. Also no surprise: Florida remains, to quote Jon Stewart, a clusterfuck.
My surprise is how well we are doing in the Senate. I was quite worried at first. There was a moment where it really looked like we were going to lose to the likes of Aiken...but then we started getting the amazingly honest and amazingly disgusting comments from so many Republicans about rape. In some ways those rape statements sealed the fate of the Senate.
Still not clear for Senate: Montana, Nevada and North Dakota. I never thought we'd come close in ND but it looks like Heidi might win...someone PLEASE tell her that she should drop the global warming denial. I am also surprised at Indiana. I knew we had a shot at that Senate seat, but my got was we wouldn't quite pull it off. Well, we did!
Another surprise was New Hampshire Governor. That race looked bad for us until the very end, but Maggie pulled it off. As did Carol Shea-Porter, who I was betting would win but for awhile I was giving up hope.
Overall it was a good night. I am still waiting for the last three Senate races and the Montana Gov race before I celebrate. But ultimately, it all comes down one big question for America, a question I grew up with...
Is America ready for a black President?
And the overwhelming answer is: Well duh!
I am already gearing up to start the next round of the fight because Republicans WILL continue obstructionism and WILL continue being bigoted, global warming denialist assholes so we have to whip their asses on state levels in 2013 and in Congress in 2014. And I mean whip their asses even more than we did tonight. You with me?
Down ballot:
gay rights, abortion rights and pot smoking are wining big.
