...fight to the death, so I beseech you, let's not succumb to the compassionate instincts that miraculously lingers in our liberal souls after decades of unrepentant Republican rat-fucking. I swear Lee Atwater wrote a handbook on his deathbed: "Chapter 583 - How to Rat-Fuck the Ohio Voting Machines".
In a case of perfect timing, Lindsey Graham, Chris Christie and various GOP "strategists" have been making bi-partisan overtures in the closing days of the campaign... but please don't let your guard down - not now, not when we have the opportunity to crush the last breath of putrid ignorant life out of this horribly mutated Republican Party, a party that pollutes the hearts and minds of nearly half of the U.S. electorate.
Please follow me below the Fleur de Kos for a bit more ranting:
I refer you to the Wikipedia description of the "Kumbayah" Negro spiritual:
The song was originally associated with human and spiritual unity, closeness and compassion, and it still is, but more recently it is also cited or alluded to in satirical or cynical ways which suggest false moralizing, hypocrisy, or naively optimistic views of the world and human nature.
Republicans have our number. We believe in the original sentiment of Kumbayah, they believe in the cynical one. They are the Lucy Van Pelt to our Charlie Brown. They know we will always trust them "just one more time" to tee the football, because we so desperately want to kick a field goal for America. Healthcare, education, equal opportunity, old-age security, dignity for all of our citizens - these are the points on the board by which we social democrats measure ourselves.
But it's always illusory, because nothing, I mean nothing, is done in good faith. The football will always get yanked away in the end. The image of the moderate socially-responsible Rockefeller Republican that floats tantalizingly in our memory is a vestige; the GOP has been completely hijacked by an unholy alliance of hate-mongering Tea Party zombies and sex-fearing Christian zealots. I believe in conservative principles - I am personally center-right on many issues - but bargaining with these people is like negotiating with a scorpion - we will always get stung in the end.
So, let's set our sights Right Fucking Now on flipping the House in 2014. It won't be a "final victory", merely the next battle we must win in order to return to a functioning two party system. Post-WWII, the Allies went through a process of "de-Nazifying" the German government, and the same principle applies here.
Let's take a moment to savor this sweet, sweet victory, then, as Ed Schultz would say, "Let's Get to Work!"
