Last month I posted NaNoWriMo, or Why You Really Need to Vote, wherein I explained that the success or failure of my attempt to reach 50,000 words at the end of National Novel Writing Month hinged on whether or not Obama was re-elected for a second term.
Well. Obama was re-elected. Now I have no excuse whatsoever.
Thanks to the Obama victory, I will not be forced to write a (hopefully) witty space opera featuring a cheerfully amoral smuggler and a two and a half meter hyperintelligent bug with a feeling of dread and despair looming over me. I will, instead, be forced to write a (hopefully) witty space opera featuring a cheerfully amoral smuggler and a two and a half meter hyperintelligent bug with a feeling of vexation and anxiety looming over me. I'm sure you can appreciate the difference.
So far I'm off to a good start. I've managed to hit the minimum recommended word count for each day of the month so far... except for one. For some reason--I can't explain it--I have a 1,667 word deficit recorded on November 6. It's a mystery that may never be fully explained.
Back to writing! Thank you Daily Kos for your assistance in this matter.
