You may see this from conservative buddies on facebook or twitter.  Duffelblog is a satirical website posting military related stories that are...not real.  Many right wing websites picked up on it and now TONS of conservatives believe it to be true, or wish to trick people into thinking that

preliminary counts showing that they would have overturned the vote in several states and brought a victory for Governor Mitt Romney.
The original article: Military Absentee Ballots Delivered One Day Late, Would Have Swung Election For Romney

Some other stories on the site:

Folks, even a google search of "" shows the site is satire.

End of course we see the maps showing county by county who won what.  People say to that, "our votes don't count!!!" This may be true if each county had the same population.  Texas has a county bigger than a few North Eastern states! And I don't even think 1000 people live there.  Oh how they wish Acres instead of people could vote!

More Tagging tips:

A tag is a way to search for this diary. If someone is searching for "Barack Obama," is this a diary they'd be trying to find?

Use a person's full name, without any title. Senator Obama may become President Obama, and Michelle Obama might run for office.

If your diary covers an election or elected official, use election tags, which are generally the state abbreviation followed by the office. CA-01 is the first district House seat. CA-Sen covers both senate races. NY-GOV covers the New York governor's race.

Tags do not compound: that is, "education reform" is a completely different tag from "education". A tag like "reform" alone is probably not meaningful.

Consider if one or more of these tags fits your diary: Civil Rights, Community, Congress, Culture, Economy, Education, Elections, Energy, Environment, Health Care, International, Labor, Law, Media, Meta, National Security, Science, Transportation, or White House. If your diary is specific to a state, consider adding the state (California, Texas, etc). Keep in mind, though, that there are many wonderful and important diaries that don't fit in any of these tags. Don't worry if yours doesn't.

How many folks are embracing this story as if it was gospel in their desperation to avoid having to accept -- again -- that a Scary Black Man was elected president, this would be hilarious.

Alas, in our world even great satire no longer is just a good belly laugh.

that this is not true. As it stands, the title is misinforming everyone who reads it but doesn't click on it.

Upon hearing the news, angry Republicans have begun a demand for a recount, but most military absentee voters have shrugged off the news, with many wondering whether the care packages their families sent six months ago were ever going to show up.
Amusing. But anyone trying to run with this as a scandal is gullible as all hell.

Monday I received two semi-loads of duffel bags stuffed full of paper. I didn't have time to find out what it all was so I just had them shove it all in the garage. I was planning on cleaning out the garage next week anyway...

  •  This is built on a genuine underlying problem (0+ / 0-)

however:  with our patchwork of outmoded, inconsistent election laws, an unknown but concerning number of absentee and provisional ballots do NOT get tallied in a timely manner if at all.   A consistent set of processes and standards, applied nationally, and regularly audited for quality control, would go a long way towards creating in a system in which more of us could have confidence.

geographical size of Red country, maps sure make it look to the softer minded people that they "outnumber" us.

Better maps show the "pinpoint" precinct areas nation wide - and in those there is a whole lot more "blue" with tiny wisps of Red.

I am quite sure the Billionaires would love having votes as property - and the right SCOTUS appointment might give us just that.

    Something else to fight against.

#1 - even if every overseas military voter voted in a single state and they all voted with RMoney it would not change the election

#2 - The "article" talks about ballots that went to one small Marine post in Afghanistan.  Even if they all voted in one state and all voted RMoney, they couldnt change the outcome in ANY state.

#3  - They are Marines and the odds that they could a) read and b) manipulate a pen approach zero.

This whole thing is very much in line with Marines inflated sense of self worth but like the Marines, doesnt hold up to even the slightest pushback.
