We need to MAKE Obama and Democrats back off bad ideas people are concerned about in the looming "fiscal talks" (and in general from his first term) and push them towards the left.

Do not forget what Van Jones said many times. Where was the left in key moments during Obama's first term and before that?

Now is the time to organize and push Democrats so they finally do a good job. We cannot take things for granted that our leaders will get everything right or remember every single priority they are supposed to do. I think the left took too many things for granted and did not plan short term and long term organizing to be really influential. Yes, Obama did some mistakes through his "bring people together" governing, no sugarcoating. But we (the left) need to own up for our mistakes too.  This is how the right got what they want and were able to make Republicans fall in line all the time.

It is time for US to be influential. We CAN prevent bad ideas from happening in the Democratic party and create good government that is by the people and for the people.

Labor learned this. That is why they already are using their campaign tools to MAKE Democrats and Obama make good decisions.

Harry Reid has already said "no messing with Social Security". Let's keeping pushing Democrats and our society.

More Tagging tips:

A tag is a way to search for this diary. If someone is searching for "Barack Obama," is this a diary they'd be trying to find?

Use a person's full name, without any title. Senator Obama may become President Obama, and Michelle Obama might run for office.

If your diary covers an election or elected official, use election tags, which are generally the state abbreviation followed by the office. CA-01 is the first district House seat. CA-Sen covers both senate races. NY-GOV covers the New York governor's race.

Tags do not compound: that is, "education reform" is a completely different tag from "education". A tag like "reform" alone is probably not meaningful.

Consider if one or more of these tags fits your diary: Civil Rights, Community, Congress, Culture, Economy, Education, Elections, Energy, Environment, Health Care, International, Labor, Law, Media, Meta, National Security, Science, Transportation, or White House. If your diary is specific to a state, consider adding the state (California, Texas, etc). Keep in mind, though, that there are many wonderful and important diaries that don't fit in any of these tags. Don't worry if yours doesn't.
