Earlier today, I wrote about Dana Milbank's excellent WaPo column on how the GOP is going through the Five Phases of Grieving. Well, according to TPM, Sen. Lindsey Graham (Closet Case-SC) is apparently somewhere between Denial and Bargaining:
"Say yes to Simpson-Bowles, Mr. President. I'm willing to say yes to Simpson-Bowles," Graham said. Graham said Washington needs more revenue, but that the revenue should come from closing tax loopholes and deductions for the rich, not from raising tax rates. "Mr. President, if you will say yes to Simpson-Bowles when it comes to revenue, so will I and so will most Republicans. We can get revenue without destroying jobs," Graham said.
TRANSLATION: We didn't lose, and we're still in control... However, we're willing to publicly agree with you on something -- provided it only benefits us, and makes you look like a complete idiot who was only talking tough on the campaign trail.
I don't know about you, but I don't need flowery rhetoric from Obama to answer this plainly ridiculous "offer." I just need this:
Discuss. :)
