Yes, there is a demograhics map that Republicans weren't paying attention to.
Yes, there is grassroot movement that Republicans ignored completely
Yes, there is pseudo-psephology movement that Republicans started to believe in.
Yes, there are people on the republican party who think it is fun to talk about rape
Yes, there is Mitt Romney - the representation of 0.01% and their world

But these weren't the reason GOP lost the Presidential race.

The real reason why GOP lost the Presidential race is that they live in a parallel world created for them by Fox News, Karl Rove, WSJ, Drudge Report and Free Republic.

GOP wasn't fighting moderate, auto industry saving, great-depression avoiding, healthcare reforming, lean-left to center-right leaning POTUS OBAMA

GOP was fighting communist, closet-islamist, kenyan born, magically-all-debt-creating, failed-stimulus, defense-cutting, freedom & rights snatching BOGEYMAN OBAMA*

(* - This version of Obama doesn't exists!)

The main reason why GOP lost in 2012 and will lose in 2016 is that they created a mirror universe for themselves in Fox News and pals and it caters to the fears of Tea Party and right-wingers. The moderate and the rest of the nation has shut out everything that comes with this parallel universe

Bill Maher said it the best: Republicans have created this fictional version of Obama.

Unless, the Republicans destroy this parallel universe and start dealing with facts, there isn't much hope for them

More Tagging tips:

A tag is a way to search for this diary. If someone is searching for "Barack Obama," is this a diary they'd be trying to find?

Use a person's full name, without any title. Senator Obama may become President Obama, and Michelle Obama might run for office.

If your diary covers an election or elected official, use election tags, which are generally the state abbreviation followed by the office. CA-01 is the first district House seat. CA-Sen covers both senate races. NY-GOV covers the New York governor's race.

Tags do not compound: that is, "education reform" is a completely different tag from "education". A tag like "reform" alone is probably not meaningful.

Consider if one or more of these tags fits your diary: Civil Rights, Community, Congress, Culture, Economy, Education, Elections, Energy, Environment, Health Care, International, Labor, Law, Media, Meta, National Security, Science, Transportation, or White House. If your diary is specific to a state, consider adding the state (California, Texas, etc). Keep in mind, though, that there are many wonderful and important diaries that don't fit in any of these tags. Don't worry if yours doesn't.

... and a lot of them point back to the bubble they are in. It's not just Fox News, their bubble is wider than that.

Their drumbeat of "socialist, communist, nazi Kenyan!" fired up their base, but turned off a lot of other people. To fire up their base, they alienated women and minorities.

But it seems that people high up in the GOP started to believe their own lies, and that's always dangerous for a propagandist.

Here in Ohio, the FBI and Justice dept were all over the place

They put in emergency software at the last minute which was not tested.

Romney's son bought into voting machine company whose machines failed all 12 of the integrity

there was a case on Monday to halt the election because of the software in the voting machines. Out of nowhere, a retired NSA employee, 39 years of service, one of the top 50 experts in the country on this, and he showed up to be expert witness for  the case.

they have been working for years on the elections stolen by Karl Rove

he came on TV one minute before he did in 2004 when the computers went down and when they came up again Bush won.

This time he said that the computers were crashed when he was talking. He expected the counts to change when they came back up. But there were enough people around who knew the game, so they didn't fix the election this time.

Victory goes to those who get out the vote. The President and Organizing for America have been focused on energizing the Democratic base and independents to get out the vote in the areas most critical to his re-election, which in this season meant the battleground states.

Everything else--Presidential Debate One, Two & Three, Bill Clinton's convention speech, Superstorm Sandy--are just events and data. Elections are won win by who is able to get their side to send in the absentee ballots, find their polling place, stand in line and vote.

They did that better than us in 2010. We did it better than them in 2008 and 2012.

The left wing built Air America and sent Rachel Maddow off into the world speak truth and educate us, which is especially helpful because it means that we wouldn't have to rely on Fox for "news" anymore.

Also, the Daily Show and Stephen Colbert became more vocal about the Republican 'destroy the middle class' agenda.

  •  the r's have always known their philosophy (0+ / 0-)

rubbed most americans the wrong way -- that's why fox noise was invented -- to convince the public otherwise, & that the rw message was mainstream, not the other way around.

the problem for r's is they believed their own propaganda, convinced themselves everyone else did too, & were shocked! shocked! to discover they had failed so miserably.

and, if the left thinks the right learned their lesson from the most recent election, they've got a lesson of their own to learn.  just tune in to fox for as long as you can stand it & you'll hear them broadcasting the same message they have since 1996: d's=BAD, r's=GOOD.

who can blame them?  the right has been preaching the benefits of trickle down since the 1920s & people are still buying it, so why not go with what works!
