Your party lost a Presidential election? Feeling a bit down? Don't worry, the Obama administration has a feel-good answer to your prayers: sign a petition asking that your state be allowed to secede from the union!

I promise we won't call you childish, petulant, a bunch of friggin' whackos or just plumb nuts crazy.

But we might call you ..... (answer and explanatrion on the other side of the squiggly)

I just looked at the petition for the State of Wisconsin: Peacefully allow the state of Wisconsin to withdraw from the United States of America and create its own NEW government

No, I'm not going to question why 'NEW' was included.  I'm sure Alex T. of Wausaukee, Wisconsin didn't consider it redundant - he created the petition.  Likewise I'm sure there's a perfectly good reason why he felt the need for 'NEW' to be in all caps.

What I found interesting is that at the time I viewed the petition there were 1900 signatures.  Of these signatures 1500 listed a city and state.  Of these 1500 people only 262 were from Wisconsin!  Yep - less than 15% of the people signing the petition even listed Wisconsin as their home.

The stupid never stops.

BTW, remember that opening part where I promised we wouldn't call them childish, petulant, a bunch of friggin' whackos or just plumb nuts crazy?  I lied.

More Tagging tips:

A tag is a way to search for this diary. If someone is searching for "Barack Obama," is this a diary they'd be trying to find?

Use a person's full name, without any title. Senator Obama may become President Obama, and Michelle Obama might run for office.

If your diary covers an election or elected official, use election tags, which are generally the state abbreviation followed by the office. CA-01 is the first district House seat. CA-Sen covers both senate races. NY-GOV covers the New York governor's race.

Tags do not compound: that is, "education reform" is a completely different tag from "education". A tag like "reform" alone is probably not meaningful.

Consider if one or more of these tags fits your diary: Civil Rights, Community, Congress, Culture, Economy, Education, Elections, Energy, Environment, Health Care, International, Labor, Law, Media, Meta, National Security, Science, Transportation, or White House. If your diary is specific to a state, consider adding the state (California, Texas, etc). Keep in mind, though, that there are many wonderful and important diaries that don't fit in any of these tags. Don't worry if yours doesn't.
