Well my roommate, Paul is in the hospital. Last August we moved into a wonderful home on 3/4th of an acre in Chico CA.
Come first frost we learned something about our one of our neighbors, their house is used to cultivate POT, we learned this by the smell of the harvest, once you smell a Pot Harvest you never, ever forget it, it smells like nothing else in this world, and the smell permeates everything! Yes, one of our neighbors grows pot!
Now we have learned something else about this "Pot House" we have as a neighbor, it is ORGANIC! How do I know this, the Lady Bugs have moved in to Paul's ceiling to take shelter from the cold Chico nights.
Paul has turtles and when I suggested that the lady bugs might make a nice treat, Paul was modified. He seems to think nothing of slowing a Gold Fish down so his Red Eared Slider can chomp its head off, but considers Lady Bugs some kind of gift! When I
asked him about this he explained that Lady Bugs do a lot of of good in the world, eating bad insects that destroy crops, and for that matter Pot. Lady Bugs are our friends and need our protection.
So it was with this that Paul declared his room a winter Lady Bug sanctuary. Well I believe in the idea that you eat what you catch, and since the Lady Bugs are on the ceiling, and Red Eared Sliders can't climb walls the Lady Bugs are safe for now. Though I don't see the morality in holding a Gold Fish by the tail so a Slider can chomp its head, I also don't see the morality in scooping bugs off the ceiling and dumping them in the tank, if they find their own way in, I think they are fair game!

God Bless America's Organic Pot Farmers for giving us free turtle treats!
Mon Nov 26, 2012 at 9:18 AM PT: First, Tutles 1/Lady Bugs 0 - while I watched a Lady Bug landed on the water, presumably for a sip, or maybe a bath, no matter, it had not the time to do either, in a blur of motion Jeffer snatch it out of existance and into a Turtle evening snack. OOne down, only maybe 200 more to go, "WHAT" cried Paul. "Jeffers got one of your Ladies, he's still licking his lips, and he was and washing his eyes!" Paul quickly moved into action getting a white wash cloth, and nailing a box to wall, lined it with plastic, and dampened the wash cloth in water, and dropped it in the box, about a foot from the Ladies and a good 6 feet out of reach of Jeffers, "There" reported Paul "Now they can drink in safety. "why did you use my white wash cloth?", "Lady Bugs are attracted to white." reported Paul. Who knew, well obviously Paul did. Who ever planted the notion that turtles nare SLOW has never seen a Red Eared Slider go after a Lady Bug, a blur is putting it mildly. These little 4 legged creatures and book ass! Turtle and a Hair, my money is on the turtle every time now!
Oh and there is error, in August there were 35 homicides and 118 shootings in Bay View 3rd and Padue, not the safest of place. To date there are only 30-something shootings in all of Chico. No vacancies in a 3 block area, not 34. typo mine. Rents are UP in Chico for 3 and 4 bedroom homes needed to cultivate 99 pot plants, vacancies WAY down. A man from my church saved his house when he lost his job by renting out 3 or his 4 bedroom to cultivators, mortgage, insurance and new car payment all made thanks to the Organic Pot Growers of America.
I have learned this is a well paying business. The Security Guards get room and board PLUS $30-$40 a day, plus entertainment opportunities, trimmers make $30,000 for 3 months work. "Uriah" works 3 month of the year and then travels and "Bums" the rest of the year. His mother "Cloud" perfers to work 2 harvests, and then return home to a reservation in WASHINGTON ST, with enough to live on the rest of the year. She is considered one of the BEST trimmers and commands up to $50,000 a season, of which there are 3 in Chico I have been told. I have also learned that trimming for maximum yield is an art.
A 3 bedroom home can yeild 1+ million in Pot, but one outdoor plant can yield as much as an entire indoor grow. In Chapmantown here in Chico there is a whole "block" under legal, licensed cultivation, and they were required as part of their license to build an 18 foot fence around the cultivation area, and post guards.
