Folks, I think we are depriving ourselves of one of the great Kosacks of all time by continuing the ban hammer on Fishgrease.
He is one of, if not the only member here whose work was featured on more than one episode of The Rachel Maddow Show, back when the BP oil disaster was still gushing. Remember his brilliant posts on booming? That's what caught Rachel's eye back in the day. The guy is a freaking genius as far as I'm concerned. This post of his, DKos Booming School, got 1202 recommends:

Here is an excerpt from The Maddow Blog about Fishgrease's great contributions to booming science:
FishGrease, the world's foremost pseudonym in oil booming, posts another Daily Kos primer on how to protect the Gulf of Mexico shoreline from the Deepwater Horizon disaster. Fishgrease wrote this one specifically for Rachel Maddow, who has been banging away on how lousy BP's booming has been. And yes, Fishgrease knows the picture up there is complicated, writing:
No, we can't boom the entire Northern Gulf of Mexico. We don't need to. We don't need to boom 1/30th of the Northern Gulf of Mexico. But there are places we need to boom and boom right. We don't boom beach. We don't boom mud bank. There's lots and lots of places we don't boom. We take all the boom and rope and anchorage from all that PR boom and we use it where we really need it. And we use it properly, so it will work. We boom where birds commonly nest. We boom inlets to inland marshes. The example above is a no-brainer. Most decisions will not be nearly that obvious. But we make those decisions. We don't not make those decisions. We make those decisions years before we need to and we maintain a command structure and we train community teams and we do yearly drills and and we obtain and maintain the materials we need and if the Oil Industry wants to drill or produce offshore, then they pay for it all. Now. Before they do anything else, and as part of their permitting, they get this done.

As I remember it, Fishgrease found himself in an anti-RKBA (Right to Keep and Bear Arms) diary here and got in a heated dispute with a pro-RKBAer in the comments. I don't remember what he or the person he was fighting with said, and neither will history. But history may remember our excommunication of this extraordinarily gifted person over something kind of stupid.
Sorry this isn't a better written post, but fuck it. The point is to get Fishgrease back. Thanks.
UPDATE 1:
h/t tytalus and others in the comments -- it appears Fishgrease left a quasi-GBCW diary after his aforementioned altercation. I don't know what the protocol for something like that is. And this post was never meant to be critical of the administration's banning decisions. But it sure would be great to have Fishgrease back. Thanks again.
UPDATE 2:
After posting this diary, I sent Fishgrease this tweet:
@Fishbooom hey man. I posted this for you: http://www.dailykos.com/... …
He tweeted back:
@ericlewis0 - God bless you. I miss DKos terribly. I did write the GBCW, however, knowing (and agreeing with) the consequences of that.
and
@ericlewis0 - I certainly don't want to be the only person exceptions were made for. That would feel like shit.
so I tweeted:
@Fishbooom @ericlewis0 apparently other people have been reinstated, but you might have to write the admins. and request it. PLEASE DO! :)
to which he responded:
@ericlewis0 - I'll give it some deep thought. My bannage was 100% my fault and I just want to make it clear that I don't blame anyone else.
and...
@ericlewis0 - You're fucking free to post my fucking tweets in an update to your diary, if you like. And thank you again, Eric. Means a lot.
Yippeeeeeee! I think we should tweet him and BEG him to request reinstatement! He can be tweeted here:

UPDATE 3:
(h/t KVoimakas, who was eyeing the tweetz) Fishgrease has apparently put in a request for reinstatement. Here is his tweet:
I've made the request. Let's see how it goes.
UPDATE 4:
He's back! Thanks so much to the admins who granted his request! Here's a tweet from Fishgrease earlier today:
I am now back on Daily Kos. Thank you all so much. I am humbled and still very choked up. Serious as fuck.
and a comment in this very diary:
