Welcome to Brothers and Sisters, the weekly meetup for prayer* and community at Daily Kos. We put an asterisk on pray* to acknowledge that not everyone uses conventional religious language, but may want to share joys and concerns, or simply take solace in a meditative atmosphere. Anyone who comes in the spirit of mutual respect, warmth and healing is welcome.
It is Wisdom calling,
Understanding raising her voice.
She takes her stand at the topmost heights,
By the wayside, at the crossroads,
Near the gates at the city entrance;
At the entryways, she shouts,
"O people, I call to you;
my cry is to all humanity.
O simple ones, learn shrewdness;
O dullards, instruct your minds.
Listen for I speak noble things;
Uprightness comes from my lips;
My mouth utters truth;
Wickedness is abhorrent to my lips.
All my words are just,
None of them perverse or crooked;
All are straightforward to the intelligent,
And right to those who have attained knowledge.
Accept my discipline rather than silver,
Knowledge rather than choice gold.
For Wisdom is better than rubies;
No goods can equal Her."
Proverbs 8:1-11
DIVINE WISDOM
Holy One
Invoked with a Myriad of Names
God our mother
God our sister
God our Goddess
Holy One have mercy on us
Christ our friend
Christ our nurture
Christ our justice
Holy Wisdom have mercy on us
Spirit of Life
Spirit of Courage
Spirit of Truth
Holy One have mercy on us
God we have turned you into a moloch
God we have turned you into an old man
God we have turned the male into God
Forgive our sin
You are neither Father nor Mother
You are neither Male nor Female
You are neither God nor Goddess
Our language is insufficient
our intellect does not grasp you
Our imagination cannot get hold of you
Although we do not know what to call you
we are called by you
Your Wisdom cherishes us
Your Faithfulness remains with us
Your Justice sustains us
Your world of well-being is promised to us
Your struggle will not fail us
Everywoman is precious in your eyes
Everywoman is close to your heart
Everywoman shares in your power
Everywoman deserves dignity and justice
Everywoman will become free
Holy, most Compassionate One
Take us home in the hour of our death
Amen
