Monday!
As you can see by Itzl's concerned look, this group is for us to check in at to let people know we are alive, doing OK, and not affected by such things as heat, blizzards, floods, wild fires, hurricanes, tornadoes, power outages, or other such things that could keep us off DKos. It's also so we can find other Kossacks nearby for in-person checks when other methods of communication fail - a buddy system. Members come here to check in. If you're not here, or anywhere else on DKos, and there are adverse conditions in your area (floods, heatwaves, hurricanes, etc.), we and your buddy are going to check up on you. If you are going to be away from your computer for a day or a week, let us know here. We care!
If you'd like to be part of the Itzl Alert Network, please leave a comment asking to join, or send us a message asking to join. We'd love to have you. The bigger our network, the less likely someone will be stranded all alone.
That Nutella Cookie recipe that's been floating around the internet that calls for 1 egg, 1 cup of flour, and 1 cup of Nutella? I made it last night.
The first batch was - OK. A bit dry and dense.
So I tweaked it. I added 1/4 teaspoon baking powder and the teensiest pinch of salt.
The second batch was lighter, with a chewy inside and a nice crisp outside.
Nutella Cookies rock, and those will be added to the Cookie Day cookies I am baking for December 12th.
The modified recipe:
1 egg
1 cup Nutella
1 cup flour
1/4 teaspoon baking powder
the teensiest pinchlet of salt
Warm the Nutella, and beat a room temperature egg into it until it's light and fluffy. Mix the baking powder and salt into 1/2 cup of the flour, then stir into the Nutella until absorbed. Slowly add the rest of the flour until you get a nice shiny, smooth ball of dough.
Drop by teaspoonfuls onto a parchment paper or non-stick foil lined cookie sheet.
(Or, do as I did, and roll half the cookie balls in a cinnamon sugar blend before plopping them on the sheet.)
Bake at 350*F for 7-9 minutes.
If you don't warm the Nutella, it takes forever to beat the egg into it.
