With 35 years of stagnant wages, healthcare take-backs, and pension cuts, working families and the American economy are suffering. As economics professor Dr. Richard Levins and I write in our first book, Getting America Back to Work, the less money working people have, the less we can spend and the more the economy suffers.

That is exactly what is wrong with the American economy today.

It is not just our own well being and the quality of life of our kids that drives us to fight to begin to close our nation’s awful inequality.

We are also driven by economic patriotism.

There is simply no way to fix our economic mess left by George Bush from the top down.

When those folks on Fox News talk about the jobs crisis, they are lying. The wealthy are not investing in America. They are sitting on $3 trillion dollars of cash.

This economy will only get going if our government invests in much needed projects that put us to work like infrastructure improvements (which also improve our productivity), sustainable energy, and manufacturing research and development.

These are just some of the reasons you need to take advantage of our Holiday offer to get both Getting America Back to Work and Playing Bigger Than You Are for only $15 plus shipping and handling. Buy them as gifts. Give ‘em to Rightwing Uncle Ted who is a dues paying member of all 12 tea bag groups. Give ‘em to Aunt Sally who thinks Walmart is the best thing that ever happened to her little town. Tell them you ain’t arguing no more ’til they read both books!

This is a helluva deal!

More Tagging tips:

A tag is a way to search for this diary. If someone is searching for "Barack Obama," is this a diary they'd be trying to find?

Use a person's full name, without any title. Senator Obama may become President Obama, and Michelle Obama might run for office.

If your diary covers an election or elected official, use election tags, which are generally the state abbreviation followed by the office. CA-01 is the first district House seat. CA-Sen covers both senate races. NY-GOV covers the New York governor's race.

Tags do not compound: that is, "education reform" is a completely different tag from "education". A tag like "reform" alone is probably not meaningful.

Consider if one or more of these tags fits your diary: Civil Rights, Community, Congress, Culture, Economy, Education, Elections, Energy, Environment, Health Care, International, Labor, Law, Media, Meta, National Security, Science, Transportation, or White House. If your diary is specific to a state, consider adding the state (California, Texas, etc). Keep in mind, though, that there are many wonderful and important diaries that don't fit in any of these tags. Don't worry if yours doesn't.
