A working group is forming. And we need liberal gun owners.

This working group will be made up of liberal gun owners; advertising, marketing and messaging professionals (and I do mean the real deal here); tech and digital experts (and yes, again, the real deal) and politically aware/active folks and affinity groups.

The idea is to develop a "dream team", or more like a "dream coalition" to work on creating a message that moves this discussion forward while not harming Democrats in particular and progressive causes in the short and long term.

The idea is to work together to develop a messaging strategy and then bring the right stakeholders and representatives into it.

And lastly, the idea is to create a long-term counter-answer to the NRA in the political space.

Simply complete this short form and I will back in touch with you in a few days. It's likely that we'll arrange a private Google Hangout to begin the work.

We'll be focused on the following:

1 - reinstatement of the assault weapons ban that lapsed in 2004

2 - possible regulation or fee assessments on high capacity magazines

3 - strengthening organizations (or creating one) as a direct counter-presence to the NRA and identifying the right media "public face" of such a group.

4 - creating powerful web and social media presence for the cause and making sure that messaging is coordinated and helpful to the purpose

I have to work all day today and will be away from the computer, but if you have any questions, please kosmail me or email me at

More Tagging tips:

A tag is a way to search for this diary. If someone is searching for "Barack Obama," is this a diary they'd be trying to find?

Use a person's full name, without any title. Senator Obama may become President Obama, and Michelle Obama might run for office.

If your diary covers an election or elected official, use election tags, which are generally the state abbreviation followed by the office. CA-01 is the first district House seat. CA-Sen covers both senate races. NY-GOV covers the New York governor's race.

Tags do not compound: that is, "education reform" is a completely different tag from "education". A tag like "reform" alone is probably not meaningful.

Consider if one or more of these tags fits your diary: Civil Rights, Community, Congress, Culture, Economy, Education, Elections, Energy, Environment, Health Care, International, Labor, Law, Media, Meta, National Security, Science, Transportation, or White House. If your diary is specific to a state, consider adding the state (California, Texas, etc). Keep in mind, though, that there are many wonderful and important diaries that don't fit in any of these tags. Don't worry if yours doesn't.
