If Speaker Boehner and the Republicans succeed in getting President Obama and Congressional Democrats to agree to cuts in Social Security, Medicare, and Medicaid, it will be one of the biggest examples of negotiating trickery, naivete, and the plain old street HUSTLE in American political history.
The Republicans have no real leverage, just demands that the deficit be cut while protecting tax cuts for the wealthy. The Republicans lost the election in both the administration and the legislative arms of the government.
What Democrat would trade cuts in Social Security, Medicare, and Medicaid for ridiculous tax cuts for the wealthy?
It makes no sense!
Please call your Senators and Representative now at 202-224-3121 and demand no cuts in Social Security, Medicare and Medicaid.
Can you imagine how harmful such a deal would be to Democrats politically? I am shocked that smart people could be hustled this way. Could this be the same crew who told the President to look presidential at all costs in the first debate?
Republican leaning veterans groups like the American Legion appeared with Sen. Bernie Sanders to plead that veterans programs be protected. Of course, veterans programs must be protected. How in hell can we ask or demand our young people fight in dubious wars and occupy countries around the world and not take care of their physical, mental and emotional traumas?
America is beyond war weary. Let’s end the killing, bring our folks home, and fix America. We do NOT have to continue the George Bush idiotic nightmare of unfunded wars unrelated to national security and occupation while Dick Cheney said deficits don’t matter. Remember that?
“War is all hell,” as Union General Sherman said as he destroyed Georgia and both Carolinas. War is not video games. Atrocities are committed. Civilians are killed and endure unspeakable horrors. All this is why vets are not war mongers.
