Maybe only an intro.
Simply put, that NRA press conference was a highly disturbing (and really not that surprising) marketing ploy to use the public school system for recruitment. The fringe right is good at grassroots mobilization (see school board creationism) for example. What better way to garner support than to have a few 'volunteers'/ex-cops -- all NRA members, of course, and probably some literature (3 steps to protect yourself! sponsored by the NRA) outside the front office?
Perhaps we should consider framing the NRA as a legitimate terrorist organization...
'...being necessary to the security of a free state...' - 2nd amendment as originally intended.
