The Washington Post has reported that Democrats have abandoned their insistence that the Bush tax cuts not be extended for any couples earning over $250,000 per year ($200,000 for individuals) According to the Washington Post:
On the central issue of expiring tax cuts enacted during the George W. Bush administration, Democrats proposed to let the cuts expire on income over $450,000 a year for couples and $360,000 for individuals — a big jump from their original demand of $250,000 for couples and $200,000 for individuals.
Despite this major concession by the Democrats, not surprisingly the Republicans want more. According to the Washington Post:
Republicans were insisting late Sunday on even higher thresholds, arguing that income under $550,000 for couples and $450,000 for individuals should be completely protected.
Based on the above, I am afraid that it is going to be the Democrats who are going to blink, even though the Democrats are the ones who won the election.
