I have written about gun control before.  I have posted several pieces over the past year, “Let’s Politicize It” and “Armed = Dangerous”.  Newtown, CT will not be the last mass shooting in America.  I will need to write this piece again, and again, and again.  The only things that will change will be the location and the body count.  So, to all the gun rights advocates out there, I have one request, “Say when.”

When I go over a friends house, and they open a bottle of wine, they ask me to, “Say when,” when there is enough wine in my glass.  When will there be enough bodies?  Last weekend, Bob Costas quoted an column citing our “gun culture” during an NFL broadcast after a player murdered his girlfriend and then took his own life.  The Gun Nuts got their panties in a bunch about this.  Gun Nuts buy their panties pre-bunched and in bulk because it saves time and money.

Gun Nuts, I hope you have put on a clean pair of pre-bunched panties.  Sit down, cling to your guns and please, “Say when.”  My friends and I will pile up the bodies of the victims; the mothers and fathers, the sisters and brothers, the sons and daughters, and you just, “Say when.”

I know that guns do not kill people, people kill people, even when they do it with guns.  How many bodies do you need to see before you acknowledge that the first four words of the Amendment you hold as sacrosanct are, “A well regulated militia”?  One thousand? Ten thousand?  We have passed those numbers long ago, so please, “Say when.”

More Tagging tips:

A tag is a way to search for this diary. If someone is searching for "Barack Obama," is this a diary they'd be trying to find?

Use a person's full name, without any title. Senator Obama may become President Obama, and Michelle Obama might run for office.

If your diary covers an election or elected official, use election tags, which are generally the state abbreviation followed by the office. CA-01 is the first district House seat. CA-Sen covers both senate races. NY-GOV covers the New York governor's race.

Tags do not compound: that is, "education reform" is a completely different tag from "education". A tag like "reform" alone is probably not meaningful.

Consider if one or more of these tags fits your diary: Civil Rights, Community, Congress, Culture, Economy, Education, Elections, Energy, Environment, Health Care, International, Labor, Law, Media, Meta, National Security, Science, Transportation, or White House. If your diary is specific to a state, consider adding the state (California, Texas, etc). Keep in mind, though, that there are many wonderful and important diaries that don't fit in any of these tags. Don't worry if yours doesn't.
