Good Morning Kossacks and Welcome to Morning Open Thread (MOT)
We're known as the MOTley Crew and you can find us here every morning at 6:30am Eastern. Feel free to volunteer to take a day - permanently or just once in awhile. With the Auto Publish feature you can set it and forget it. Sometimes the diarist du jour shows up much later: that's the beauty of Open Thread...it carries on without you! OK OK OK we're going to start now.
Stream of Consciousness Man is high on his hill in Oregon again, not having gone ay place significant since last weeks ski trip to Bend?Bachelors. Weathher wise I would have been better to have gone this eekend but I hate to ski and play golf on the weekends, its when the amateurs do it.

So anyway, what to talk about? What occupied the Stream of Consciousness today?
Its been cold here, my water pump froze up today. Fortunately I knew what to do== this is a minor inconvenience now tho once it cause great anguish and gnashing of teeth. I have to put a light in with it when the weather drops below freezing and I forgot. So I had to get out the old paint remover/industrial strength blow dryer and heat the switch, pipes and pump up to where it was running again. Thats what I get for being my own water district, there's no one to call to come out and fix it so I have to do it, like everything else around here..
I have 2 seperate water systems: a spring tank and a well. The spring tank is gravity fed from a spring about 1/4 mile up the hill from my property. There's a pipe that runs down about 1/4 mile and goes into a 5000gal tank. The pump sits on top of this, thats what provides the wter pressure. It has a cover but its pretty lame. I know the system pretty well---its pretty simple once you figure it out but figuring it out was problematic. Especially because I didn't have a good relationship with the previous owners, who were some real messy jerks---I made them come back and clean up a bunch of crap.
We use the well for watering our lawn and other irrigation, we don't really even need it. I been in this house for nigh on 8 year which is record for me. Longest I ever lived in one house by almost 4 years. Its a race to finish all the stuff I have to do here before I turn 90. And then I have to stop to fix stuff along the way.
And you thought all I did was lay around the house only leaving to take the all too frequent vacation!! And youre mostly right, as much as I can, thats why it'll take me to age 90.
Yes, I look forward to the day when I can down tools and finally quit being forced to say
"Morning Open Thread will begin in 5...4...3....2....1....NOW!!!"
