Now that I have my account suspended for the second time after having tweeted something about the NRA and its slightly fanatical followers, I am quite certain that my account is being reported as 'spam' by these fine folks in an attempt to silence opposition. I follow Twitter's Terms of Service strictly, and both times this has happened, I have first received countless unsolicited tweets from right-wing trolls.

I am not sure what to do about this at present, as Twitter does not have a way that I have found yet to contact them about such things. I felt, however, the need to let those in progressive community know that this is occurring.

The NRA and the people (using that term loosely) that support them will do almost anything to silence those that want an increase in gun safety. We cannot let issues involving public safety be determined by bullies!

5:47 PM PT: This is the tweet that set the gun nuts off today:

'Tyranny' is when a small faction of industry-backed gun nuts dictate policy against the wishes of the majority! #uppers

10:55 PM PT: I just found it is indeed the gun nuts mass 'spam blocking' liberals on Twitter:

Zach Green ‏@140elect

#TGDN works to get accounts suspended using targeted spam-blocking. The answer: do not engage. Learn more: http://140elect.com/...

They attack by following people too: http://140elect.com/...

What jerks!

More Tagging tips:

A tag is a way to search for this diary. If someone is searching for "Barack Obama," is this a diary they'd be trying to find?

Use a person's full name, without any title. Senator Obama may become President Obama, and Michelle Obama might run for office.

If your diary covers an election or elected official, use election tags, which are generally the state abbreviation followed by the office. CA-01 is the first district House seat. CA-Sen covers both senate races. NY-GOV covers the New York governor's race.

Tags do not compound: that is, "education reform" is a completely different tag from "education". A tag like "reform" alone is probably not meaningful.

Consider if one or more of these tags fits your diary: Civil Rights, Community, Congress, Culture, Economy, Education, Elections, Energy, Environment, Health Care, International, Labor, Law, Media, Meta, National Security, Science, Transportation, or White House. If your diary is specific to a state, consider adding the state (California, Texas, etc). Keep in mind, though, that there are many wonderful and important diaries that don't fit in any of these tags. Don't worry if yours doesn't.
