I serve on two boards. One is a county level advisory board and one is an environment related non-profit. I've served for 7 years on one and 15 on the other. Both have 9 members now. I am the only female on both boards. Some years ago each had 3 women and 6 men. Are women becoming less engaged? Or is my situation an anomaly?
On both boards, it is not a case of women being selected over men. Usually no woman applied for appointment or ran in the election.
I know that two boards is a small sample so, before I write a diary bemoaning a lack of women involved in boards, I am asking for your experience and comments.
