American evangelicals are sending money to help finance a violent anti-gay movement in Uganda.
There is growing awareness in the western world about the role American evangelicals have been playing in promoting a dangerous deadly anti-gay movement in Uganda and other African nations. Roger Ross Williams, in his film "Gospel of Intolerance," reveals how money donated by American evangelicals helps to finance a violent anti-gay movement in Uganda. There has been programing on PBS and a recent article in the New York Times. Essentially, the religious zealots have taken the culture wars to Africa. But we are not talking about their money promoting only intolerance--but the fact that their money is directly supporting the murder of so called sexual deviates. In other words, American evangelicals are lending their vocal and monetary support to genocide based on sexuality. They have blood on their hands--promoting a scapegoating philosophy that leads to fear and hate--culminating attempts to propose legislation that would make the death penalty mandatory for those who engage in same sex relations. Western countries and Human Rights organizations are and must continue to fight these efforts wherever they occur. There must be efforts to call those who support killing people because of their sexuality/sexual preferences criminals and hold them accountable. We need to push our government to stop the flow of money from evangelicals to nations where such laws are being entertained/implemented. If it's a crime to send money to terrorists and their organizations--we certainly can make it a crime to fund the groups in Uganda and elsewhere that discriminate and murder based on sexuality.
