Will there be a scandal in the Senate?

Another Sex Scandal in the Senate? Its been a while since the people of this Nation have been distracted since Anthony Weiner’s Twitter Gate. This particular situation coming soon will once again feature a Democrat Senator. This time the subject of the investigation is Senator Bob Menendez. Since August thanks to an “anonymous tip from a concerned citizen” the FBI has been hot in pursuit of underage prostitutes in the Dominican Republic. Just the mention of Senator and prostitutes is enough to make many around the country salivate in glee as they prepare themselves for another potential scandal!

The sex scandal is brewing. Already the Corporate Media is on the train of the evidence and the potential wrongdoings of the Senator. Once again its a slow time in the political world and this event is wedge between the President’s “skeet shooting abilities” and the Super Bowl. This is a scandal that once again has a clear cut target in mind a Democrat Senator. Pretty soon the fire and brimstone of the allegations will come up. Republicans will put their self righteous hats of condemnation and play Judge , Jury and Executioner. The Corporate Media will talk about “Hooker Gate” and wax poetic about the evils of bedding “young girls” in the Dominican Republic. Meanwhile Republicans (who in secrecy engage in all sorts of similarly”perverse behavior” will be doing what they do best and moralizing about the situation at hand. Then of course the American people will have have no choice but to bear witness to the stories of the monstrous “evil Senator” and his wicked womanizing ways (whether there really were any under age girls or not), then during the course of the madness any real politics can casually and quietly be placed on the back burner.

More Tagging tips:

A tag is a way to search for this diary. If someone is searching for "Barack Obama," is this a diary they'd be trying to find?

Use a person's full name, without any title. Senator Obama may become President Obama, and Michelle Obama might run for office.

If your diary covers an election or elected official, use election tags, which are generally the state abbreviation followed by the office. CA-01 is the first district House seat. CA-Sen covers both senate races. NY-GOV covers the New York governor's race.

Tags do not compound: that is, "education reform" is a completely different tag from "education". A tag like "reform" alone is probably not meaningful.

Consider if one or more of these tags fits your diary: Civil Rights, Community, Congress, Culture, Economy, Education, Elections, Energy, Environment, Health Care, International, Labor, Law, Media, Meta, National Security, Science, Transportation, or White House. If your diary is specific to a state, consider adding the state (California, Texas, etc). Keep in mind, though, that there are many wonderful and important diaries that don't fit in any of these tags. Don't worry if yours doesn't.

You can add a private note to this diary when hotlisting it:

If this were not a good guy Democrat like Melendez it would be nightly news. as it is you have to search the nether regions of the interwebs to even find a mention of it. And it isn't the sex, it is the influence peddling that is the real issue.

I don't care what party, or what your politics are. It's sick. If he did it, he's sick. If he didn't, the ones who instigated the lie are sick.

Discourse is better served if we can stick to the rules of logic.

Your link provided no names, no accusation or any specifics about Menendez & sex?  What are you talking about?   Name names.  Men or women?

The article is not just about Menendez but also a general view of sex scandals in politics. If you click the Read More Here Link, the article has a link to a Miami Herald article which goes into the  "accusations" that were being bandied about.

        •  And what is the big deal? (0+ / 0-)

Everyone does this all over the internet. Its called getting the word out!
Is that really a crime? Seriously ? Look I  don't have a million dollar advertising budget, I am not sponsored by a corporation, I don't have an army of advertisers doing my bidding, so what do I do to spread the word use the internet the last place where the poor and middle class can spread the word. And if commentary like yours proliferates then people will also begin to shut down progressive outlets and stop the common man and woman from being able to advertising and forcing everyone to have to spend millions. I quite frankly support any Progressive site and Blogger out there who wants an outlet to spread the word, it is your comments that stifle and hinder the Independent Progressive media.

The Menendez story is a week old, and the sex scandal aspect of it is rapidly falling apart.  I didn't go to read your blog, but I figured if there was something you wanted to tell us here, you would have done so.

really care to click on a link to a blog. That's why we're HERE. It's funny how you can copy/paste your entire blog here in a diary, and no one would care. But, when someone gets a tease, and "Read the Rest of the Story" link, they know they're merely being redirected to another site as a revenue source. Some will click. Most will not.

And then we'll point out that you're pimping your blog.

My Blog does not have any ads or use them for revenue purposes interestingly enough.... My  Site is 100% reader supported, via Donations... so yes there is no "terrible evil corporate agenda"  to rob you blind or anything of that nature. I think that Progressives instead of picking and beating up on each other and showing petty jealousy, should support and promote all independent progressive media we are in a fight against those with a lot more money and resources.

              •  So, you drive traffic to your blog in order (0+ / 0-)

to solicit donations? That's almost worse.

If it was just about your story getting out there, you'd just see if you could find some place with an established audience for free. I wonder if you could find a place like that. Some place that has over 600k registered users. . . any ideas?

You already have your blog address in your sig line. If people were interested, they'd go there. If they find it interesting enough to stay, they do that. Ask Eclectablog. He started his own blog. He wrote each of his blog posts in their entirety here, as well as at his own blog. Made a name for himself without driving the traffic. Just encouraging them. He is my second stop after DKos. I don't even look for him here anymore, because his blog is so much more interesting than what he posts here.

Woman named in Menendez allegations denies she ever met the senator

SANTO DOMINGO, Dominican Republic — A young woman named in connection with an alleged sex scandal involving U.S. Sen. Robert Menendez denied in a television interview she was ever involved in prostitution and said she had never met him.

They have intimate connections with Latin American prostitutes.

So far there doesn't seem to be much of a scandal here. CREW confirmed that the senator took three trips to the DR on a wealthy donor's jet. The trips were disclosed and the donor was reimbursed - all above board. The trail went cold evidence of consorting with prostitutes of any age. Remember prostitution is legal in the DR - ask Rush.

Then it just plain gets weird. Apparently this was not enough of a story for Univision already. It seems the anonymous tipster pushing the story had the name of one of the alleged underage prostitutes. So they find a young lady with a matching name on Facebook and of course that's enough to dispatch a camera crew to her house and hound the poor girl and her family.

The real scandal is continuing to report this smear as news. Based on all the available facts, a US Senator and a poor young lady with the misfortune of being born to her name are now forced to defend their reputations against some incredibly spurious allegations.

  •  Are there more than diapers involved? (0+ / 0-)

As Louisiana proved, even if diapers are involved, there's no scandal.  There must be more than diapers. Maybe the Senator was dressed as a rubber chicken?  Were there whips and chains?  A threesome with a manimal?  If it ain't bigger than davey vitter, then it ain't a scandal.
