After 'NOT' asking questions about the Defense Department, the job of Defense Department Secretary former Sen. Hagel has been nominated to fill, and how he would lead the Pentagon and qualifications to do so along with Afghanistan, National Defense and Security, criminal terrorism, security at embassy's etc. etc. etc., a new laundry list of unrelated questions are brought forth to obstruct. And leading the obstruction, especially in the press reports, is the new freshman Senator from Texas.

And once we again hear from the newest little chickenhawk tepub, a rubber stamping lockstep walker for his seniors for sure. Who loves the nixonian spitting on veterans especially us Vietnam veterans:

Freshman Sen. Ted Cruz, T(R)-Texas, who opposes Hagel's nomination, had complained to his colleagues about the information the nominee provided during a closed meeting on Tuesday. Other Republicans raised objections to a vote."

Who at 42 aged out of voluntary recruitment into the Armed Services especially after 9/11 and these two rubber stamped, by the political party he states he belongs to, wars of choice. Who having all cheered on the abandoning of the main missions for even sending the military into that region, with the first drum beats pointed at Iraq, completely have forgotten neither war has been paid for and especially, DeJa-Vu all over again of the previous decades and wars of, nothing for the long term results of. Hell I don't think they even remember that the one abandoned, years back, is still ongoing as it's never mentioned especially when talking revenues.

on the kombat keyboard badge he's almost reached a second chickenhead, he's advancing rapidly in the ranks of.

They attacked Hagel with unrelated questions of long past statements etc., and like most congressional hearings, then wouldn't let him answer as they interrupted when he tried. Now, instead of asking in the many hours of the hearing or the individual private meetings previous, they say he hasn't answered a laundry list of other questions unrelated to the job appointed to fill. I'll bet the closed hearings were even worse then the publicly aired hearing.

Senate Democrats Delay Hagel Vote After Desperate And Unprecedented GOP Stall Tactics
Feb 6, 2013 - Senate Armed Services Committee chair Carl Levin (D-MI) will reportedly delay the committee’s vote on Chuck Hagel’s nomination to be the next Secretary of Defense. Republicans are demanding that Hagel produce the texts of private speeches he made and disclose the financial dealings of private companies he is associated with. A spokesperson for Levin told ThinkProgress that the committee is “working on their concerns.”

The vote was expected to take place as early as Thursday, but Republicans — led by Sens. James Inhofe (R-OK) and Ted Cruz (R-TX) — asked that the vote be delayed after Hagel — citing legal and logistics issues — said he could not give the them everything they’re asking for. read more>>>

This Cruz is making his mark early, bet he's thinking of a run for the top job in our government coming up in four years, and the press is going along with it and not calling him out. No surprise there, it's called journalism in the 21st century, started in the latter 20th, for many doing so and still called professionals. Without this technology we'd actually think we were getting real news reports from the normal sources of, the TV, the Newspapers, the Radio and from sources actually earning them big bucks and called anchors or lead writers.

Good thing for us in the Military Veterans Community, especially the service related injured brothers and sisters and especially those of our cheered on war theaters and long occupations, he wasn't placed on the U.S. Senate Committee on Veterans Affairs, but he does have a vote of continuing obstruction on Veterans issues that would be cast with his (T) breathern, and doing what he quickly learned to do, attack and take no answers!

I'd make another bet that he's not at all happy that Rubio was picked for the State of the Union tepublican response and not him as the breaking out of the gate as the new wonder boy. Especially after his attacks on Kerry and Hagel showing his macho patriotic bravado and the american warrior he is. He's a teabager dream politician, freedom, along with everything else, absolutely for free, and oh so tough talkin!

More Tagging tips:

A tag is a way to search for this diary. If someone is searching for "Barack Obama," is this a diary they'd be trying to find?

Use a person's full name, without any title. Senator Obama may become President Obama, and Michelle Obama might run for office.

If your diary covers an election or elected official, use election tags, which are generally the state abbreviation followed by the office. CA-01 is the first district House seat. CA-Sen covers both senate races. NY-GOV covers the New York governor's race.

Tags do not compound: that is, "education reform" is a completely different tag from "education". A tag like "reform" alone is probably not meaningful.

Consider if one or more of these tags fits your diary: Civil Rights, Community, Congress, Culture, Economy, Education, Elections, Energy, Environment, Health Care, International, Labor, Law, Media, Meta, National Security, Science, Transportation, or White House. If your diary is specific to a state, consider adding the state (California, Texas, etc). Keep in mind, though, that there are many wonderful and important diaries that don't fit in any of these tags. Don't worry if yours doesn't.

    •  Nah, just trying out a new method of obstrution (0+ / 0-)

by demanding no vote until new stuff not requested at a hearing be delivered and examined before any vote. Its another form of filibuster, without yet having the reek of it. I wonder what the Rs think will happen if no secDef is approved. I suspect they have no plans for that.

    "expert" on all things military?

Actually...Never.  I'm thoroughly sickened and disgusted by  the GOPer chickenhawk brigade continually pushing for war on the one hand and discrediting combat veterans on the other hand.

Apparently any service member or veteran who disagrees with the chickenhawks' neocon agenda of all war, all the time--while at the same time those chickenhawks make sure they and their children don't serve--is an enemy of Chickenhawk Cruz and his cowardly colleagues.

Cowardly Chickenhawk Cruz--bravely planning the next war(s) (for other people to fight) while he fights veterans from behind a microphone and a desk, and disses their service and sacrifice.

apparently, neither gender nor ethnically determined. These clueless people pop up everywhere. Nature endows them with the gift of gab and they make the most of it, repeating like parrots what they are told. This makes them good candidates for political office now that consultants and advisors are in charge. Cruz is, apparently, a good mouth piece and he's got an hispanic name, to boot.

I must admit that I once that that minorities are entitled to be represented by clueless people, just like the majority get, but I now realize that's mean-spirited. Nobody deserves the likes of Clarence Thomas and Condi Rice, nor Joe Wilson of South Carolina.

if I had wanted GOP'ers in charge of major government institutions, I would have freakin' voted for the GOP.

Not having done that, Hagel's nomination is mightily irksome to me.

And no, I will not calm down.

How is Cruz any more a chickenhawk than our president?

Neither was obligated to serve as there was no draft, neither enrolled in the military voluntarily, both are currently in support of US military operations overseas of a dubiously self-defensive nature.

One doesn't like John Kerry?  Is that the difference?

but to have to listen to not one, but TWO Chicken Hawks in the Texas Senate delegation, is hard to take.
I'm a Viet Nam Vet, drafted in April 1969. Spent 1970 in Viet Nam while my first Son was born back home. At the time it pretty much sucked. Looking back, it's a different feeling. The pain is gone, but the memories are still vivid.
I'm re-married now, have two great sons age 13 and 12.
Any one who has served can't with a clear conscience think these men or others like them (Chicken Hawks) could hold a candle (or rifle) to Hagel or Kerry. Both of these men served bravely, honorably and courageously.
ANYONE disrespecting them should be slapped and sent home to Mommy.
