No matter how President Obama paints the State of America’s questionable Union, we say without unity, there is no friggin’ Union. The plain truth is, the State of these incompatible States is contentious, disorganized, dysfunctional and financially busted.
Unfortunately, any attemt to address any of those issues, and you got another issue.
You pick the issue, any issue whatsoever and somebody is ready to pick a fight over that issue. America is now, always has been and will remain for the foreseeable future, in a perpetual state of civil war. America, one could say, has simply become disagreeable.
Whether its the economy, social issues, defense considerations, healthcare or the nation’s crumbling infrastructure, legions of lobbyist, loaded with untraceable cash, line up to engage disagreeably. But what most makes America so disagreeable as of late, stems from what makes most people disagreeable; no money! America is by definition insolvent.
Definition of ‘Insolvency’: When an individual or organization can no longer meet its financial obligations with its lender or lenders as debts become due. Insolvency can lead to insolvency proceedings, in which legal action will be taken against the insolvent entity, and assets may be liquidated to pay off outstanding debts. No matter how disagreeable you are, its hard to disagree with that.
Bottom-line, the state of this so called Union is flat broke. And, while the nation’s insolvency is no secret, how the country has been reduced to fighting over the bones is not as widely appreciated as it will be soon. Sure, we’d like to be as positive as the next overworked/underpaid blissfully ignorant Joe/Jane Q. Public, but with the impending sequestration cuts looming mercilessly on the horizon, even the most apathetic of dolts will raise an eyebrow or a mild ruckus.
If we are to believe the dire consequences sequestration cuts will trigger if Congress does nothing, everybody domestically and internationally is gonna have something to disagree about. Perhaps if the general population had access to some of that untraceable cash, they wouldn’t become even more disagreeable as times get harder.
Assessing any other primary pillars of a competently, efficiently, cooperatively managed nation with an eye on the future, would bare little fresh fruit. Its all bad. If one agrees that those responsible for addressing the most pressing issues of our time spend all of their time being disagreeable, one can safely presume any agreement needed to reach an agreement won’t be agreed upon.
In the end, no matter what the President says in his first State of the Union of his second term, his opposition will disagree with all of it. Hell, at the point the GOP can't even agree on how to disagree with the Obama administration.
That friends, is our unvarnished opinion of the State of America’s Union. What say you Mr President?
