My client, CIA whistleblower John Kiriakou, will begin his thirty-month prison sentence on February 28 in Loretto, Pennsylvania.  But even though Kiriakou has already been sentenced, the government still monitors him.  And while the government continues to complain about John's public appearances and the events held in his honor, tonight we will send him off in style at a gala reception at the Hay-Adams Hotel in Washington, DC.

The party's hostess, disgruntled heiress Naomi Pitcairn, deliberately chose the Hay-Adams because it reminded her of more civilized times.  She remarked:

“My ancestors were staunch Republicans, who raised me to believe that things like torture belonged to the middle ages and were best left there. It is beyond me why our country is punishing this gentleman for the ‘crime’ of informing the American people of atrocities committed in their name. Clearly, all the wrong people are being sent to prison these days.”
Kiriakou's broad base of supporters, including actors, politicians, and CIA agents, are expected to turn out tonight to give him the send-off he deserves.

The party is hosted by Code Pink and Fresh Juice Party.  The event will begin at 7:30 pm at the Hay-Adams Hotel.  Please see Fresh Juice Party's press release for more details, and please RSVP to if you would like to attend.

More Tagging tips:

A tag is a way to search for this diary. If someone is searching for "Barack Obama," is this a diary they'd be trying to find?

Use a person's full name, without any title. Senator Obama may become President Obama, and Michelle Obama might run for office.

If your diary covers an election or elected official, use election tags, which are generally the state abbreviation followed by the office. CA-01 is the first district House seat. CA-Sen covers both senate races. NY-GOV covers the New York governor's race.

Tags do not compound: that is, "education reform" is a completely different tag from "education". A tag like "reform" alone is probably not meaningful.

Consider if one or more of these tags fits your diary: Civil Rights, Community, Congress, Culture, Economy, Education, Elections, Energy, Environment, Health Care, International, Labor, Law, Media, Meta, National Security, Science, Transportation, or White House. If your diary is specific to a state, consider adding the state (California, Texas, etc). Keep in mind, though, that there are many wonderful and important diaries that don't fit in any of these tags. Don't worry if yours doesn't.
