More Tagging tips:

A tag is a way to search for this diary. If someone is searching for "Barack Obama," is this a diary they'd be trying to find?

Use a person's full name, without any title. Senator Obama may become President Obama, and Michelle Obama might run for office.

If your diary covers an election or elected official, use election tags, which are generally the state abbreviation followed by the office. CA-01 is the first district House seat. CA-Sen covers both senate races. NY-GOV covers the New York governor's race.

Tags do not compound: that is, "education reform" is a completely different tag from "education". A tag like "reform" alone is probably not meaningful.

Consider if one or more of these tags fits your diary: Civil Rights, Community, Congress, Culture, Economy, Education, Elections, Energy, Environment, Health Care, International, Labor, Law, Media, Meta, National Security, Science, Transportation, or White House. If your diary is specific to a state, consider adding the state (California, Texas, etc). Keep in mind, though, that there are many wonderful and important diaries that don't fit in any of these tags. Don't worry if yours doesn't.

with the highest poverty rates (and therefore, people with limited access to quality, fresh, unprocessed food) in that dark red zone.  Correlation and causation are two different things.

Of course, Republican policies (like union-busting and "Right to Work" are partly to blame for poverty in the South). Is it that Republicans are fat, or that Republican policies cause crappy cheap-ass diets and bad medical care?

Do you not see that it is the grossest idolatry to speak of the market as though it were the rival of God?

Living in GA, most of the people I know are Republicans.  And most of them are overweight.  Never thought about it before seeing this diary.

We must not harbor prejudice against people who find themselves overweight. Nor even acknowledge it.

And for God's sake, don't make ANY suggestions about it. Offering health tips is very 20th century and is now part of being prejudiced.

just keep your healthy lifestyle to yourself: it is insensitive to others to remark about one's health or efforts to maintain/improve it.

that's the message that has been caringly shared with me..

That said, yeah: Repubs have a horrible diet and actually, many of them believe healthy eating is just another liberal conspiracy.

    Let them keep thinking that.

Have to say that moving from Arizona to Maryland was shocking.  Granted I was on a military base and a training base at that so my sample population was tilted to the 18-25 above average fitness population.  having said that, our first trip to the Anne Arundel mall was a nasty wake up call.  It seemed like over half the population was not just obese but HUGE.  It was the first time I saw large numbers of "Rascal" scooters used by people too darn fat to walk.

I will testify that Louisiana tops any place I have lived recently.  My two trips to WalMart (sorry there was no other choice) made me throw up in my mouth more than a little bit.  Unlike the Maryland fatties, the ones in LA seemed to be allergic to clothing.  Didnt help that it was about 2 million degrees and 110% humidity but please for the love of god put on some clothes so I dont have to see all 40 rolls in your back.  The front of the store had a full on parking lot for scooter carts and the second, and last, time I went there was actually a line because they were all in use.
