Itzl AlertingAs you can see by Itzl's concerned look, this group is for us to check in at to let people know we are alive, doing OK, and not affected by such things as heat, blizzards, floods, wild fires, hurricanes, tornadoes, power outages, or other such things that could keep us off DKos. It's also so we can find other Kossacks nearby for in-person checks when other methods of communication fail - a buddy system. Members come here to check in. If you're not here, or anywhere else on DKos, and there are adverse conditions in your area (floods, heatwaves, hurricanes, etc.), we and your buddy are going to check up on you. If you are going to be away from your computer for a day or a week, let us know here.  We care!

If you'd like to be part of the Itzl Alert Network, please leave a comment asking to join, or send us a message asking to join. We'd love to have you. The bigger our network, the less likely someone will be stranded all alone.

Oh my, what weather we've been having!

Blizzards in the east, droughts in the middle, it's Mother Nature gone wild!

This morning was actually fairly nice for us, a typical Spring morning- frosty with a biting cold wind out of the east/northeast.  The day will progress sunny and dry with clouds building up towards evening.

Tagging tips - Search For Tags - Browse For Tags

More Tagging tips:

A tag is a way to search for this diary. If someone is searching for "Barack Obama," is this a diary they'd be trying to find?

Use a person's full name, without any title. Senator Obama may become President Obama, and Michelle Obama might run for office.

If your diary covers an election or elected official, use election tags, which are generally the state abbreviation followed by the office. CA-01 is the first district House seat. CA-Sen covers both senate races. NY-GOV covers the New York governor's race.

Tags do not compound: that is, "education reform" is a completely different tag from "education". A tag like "reform" alone is probably not meaningful.

Consider if one or more of these tags fits your diary: Civil Rights, Community, Congress, Culture, Economy, Education, Elections, Energy, Environment, Health Care, International, Labor, Law, Media, Meta, National Security, Science, Transportation, or White House. If your diary is specific to a state, consider adding the state (California, Texas, etc). Keep in mind, though, that there are many wonderful and important diaries that don't fit in any of these tags. Don't worry if yours doesn't.

You can add a private note to this diary when hotlisting it:
Are you sure you want to remove this diary from your hotlist?

day in Albuquerque, temps may even reach 70 (too warm, imo but then I will miss winter when it goes). But there's another storm predicted for us over the weekend so that all may change by tomorrow.

You should sit & mediate 20 minutes each day. Unless you don't have the time. Then you should sit for an hour.

company left around noon, then we walked down for groceries. Caedy forgot her wallet so we had to walk home again, then she and the kids walked back down. So the house is really quiet right now.

Supposed to get up to 61 today, and according to NWS it has made that goal. 32 for the low again tonight, then back up into the mid 60's tomorrow. Supposed to go up near 80 on Sunday, oy vey, my poor lungs!

Today is a better day, I'm sore, but no twitching so far (knocks on wood). Only minor breathing problems, and some of that stems from the bacon Caedy made for breakfast (smoke is bad).

  •  Hello from NYC. I've been more off than on (1+ / 0-)

the Kos this week as I got laid off Monday.  Wrote about it here:

    Laid Off Monday 3/4

The outpouring from this community is so amazing and I've been most appreciative for all comments, advice that has been offered. Thx to those here who've reached out! I've been doing a little each day, except for Tues when I was so sick to my stomach that I didn't leave the apartment.  It's how I often react to sad or scary life events.

Been wondering now that my job is gone and there's nothing really to keep me here in NYC, is this the Universe telling me to go home to NE WI now?  My dad says I always have a home with him.  I'm almost too scared to go online and look at what the job market would be like for me (53 soon to be 54 yrs old exec assistant).

My cousin told me about her old childhood neighbor who moved to Boston years ago but kept the family home in WI.  Over the yrs, she rented it out.  Then hubby passed away suddenly and she moved back to the house in WI.  She had no job but she knew she didn't want to stay in Boston, family was all back in WI.  Well she found a job as an exec asst to the president of a major bathroom kitchen fixture corporation in Sheboygan, about 45 min drive from her home!  She just turned 54.

Lightning in a bottle I know but oh, man a big chunk of me has wanted to go be with my dad.  Felt that way for a few years now apart from suddenly being laid off.

Anyway be well all.  Stay safe in the storm wherever you are.

pulled a whole STINK-pot of our weed-bunching-onions, while we were filling up the yard-debris for tomorrow's pick-up. got a bunch of raking and dandelion destruction done, too. more to come, of course, but we appear to have a couple more clear days coming, so yahoo! time to REALLY hurt ourselves, 8-)

well, I should be painting storage boxes tomorrow probably...

and we're doing Home Show this weekend sometime, to look at more sources of ductless heater systems...

and just realized how overpriced the car insurance is, the current 6-mo renewal came in with a 7% increase! it's been bumping up 3-4% every 6-mo forever, what we usually get is "oh it's just inflation", but 7%? when there is basically NO inflation anywhere in the economy, as far as we know! whee.

"real" work : a job where you wash your hands BEFORE you use the bathroom...
