For Women's History Month, we celebrate, and we learn. Sadly, something we learn, is that atrocities and crimes against women continue to take place in record numbres, around the world, and right here in our backyards. The good news is, there are things we can do to help.

I have outlined, below, some of Elenor Goldberg's extensive research from her recent article:

1. Human Trafficking - 98% of the human trafficking for sexual exploitation, are women/girls. Slavery around the world is more prevalent than ever before.
Lean more about what you can do:
2. Rape - 1 in 3 women will be assaulted, beaten or raped in their lifetime.
Learn more about what you can do:
3. Female Genital Mutation - 101 million girls have been subjected to intense torture, with no anesthetic - to keep them chaste.
Learn more about what you can do:
4. Infant Mortality - Women lose 19,000 children daily due to the mother not having sanitary drinking water, nutritious food and necessary immunizations.
Learn more about what you can do:
5. Child Brides - More than 60 million girls under the age of 18 are married off - mostly to men twice their age or older.

Pick one, learn more, find one thing you can do. You're going to feel good when you do.

More Tagging tips:

A tag is a way to search for this diary. If someone is searching for "Barack Obama," is this a diary they'd be trying to find?

Use a person's full name, without any title. Senator Obama may become President Obama, and Michelle Obama might run for office.

If your diary covers an election or elected official, use election tags, which are generally the state abbreviation followed by the office. CA-01 is the first district House seat. CA-Sen covers both senate races. NY-GOV covers the New York governor's race.

Tags do not compound: that is, "education reform" is a completely different tag from "education". A tag like "reform" alone is probably not meaningful.

Consider if one or more of these tags fits your diary: Civil Rights, Community, Congress, Culture, Economy, Education, Elections, Energy, Environment, Health Care, International, Labor, Law, Media, Meta, National Security, Science, Transportation, or White House. If your diary is specific to a state, consider adding the state (California, Texas, etc). Keep in mind, though, that there are many wonderful and important diaries that don't fit in any of these tags. Don't worry if yours doesn't.
