Watch "The Lessons of Watergate" live!
Common Cause’s “The Lessons of Watergate” conference starts Wednesday [3/13/13] at the National Press Club in Washington, D.C. We’ve got a tremendous lineup of speakers, with provocative insights into the Watergate scandal and its continuing impact on American politics.
You can still be part of the conference even if you’re unable to attend in person.
We'll be livestreaming the conference at http://www.commoncause.org/... and we hope you'll join us!
The conference lineup includes Daniel Ellsberg, who helped write and later released "The Pentagon Papers," Hon. Elizabeth Holtzman and Hon. William Cohen, key members of the House Judiciary Committee during the Nixon impeachment hearings; and the Hon. Russ Feingold, former U.S. Senator and a chief sponsor of the Bipartisan Campaign Reform Act also known as McCain-Fengold. We'll also hear from Robert Reich, Common Cause's board chair and former Secretary of Labor.
This is an outstanding program, looking back on a pivotal period in modern U.S. history and what it has to teach us about the continuing threat big money poses to our democracy.
The livestream will begin at 9 a.m. ET as Common Cause President Bob Edgar and Ms. Holtzman start the conference. The National Press Club is streaming each keynote and plenary from the main ballroom -- check the program for more information.
