According to LA Weekly (http://blogs.laweekly.com/...) rumors are flying that the right-wing billionaires the Koch Brothers may be bidding to buy the Tribune media empire, which includes many major newspapers, including the Los Angeles Times and Chicago Tribune. And it has been reported for some time that Rupert Murdoch has expressed interest in buying Tribune as well.
This Orwellian attempt by a few right-wing billionaires to control the media message, with First Amendment protection, should alarm any thinking person. I'm not sure what can be done to stop such a seize of media power, but if it occurs, there should be an all-out effort to get both subscribers and advertisers to boycott these publications. The billionaires can afford to lose money, but the only readers left would be other "conservatives," so they'd be spending a lot of cash just to preach to the choir.
