In 2011 at Bonnaroo this happened (video below the fold). Now if you don't know Bonnaroo is a multi-day concert on a 700 acre farm in the middle of nowhere TN. You camp out in tents. There are like 7 stages of music close to 24/7. Huge named bands and other bands that you have never heard of that just flat out rock.
I am a live music guy. I have traveled far and wide to see concerts, and well many of the best I have seen are at Bonnaroo. I like to think I am good with my words and I can explain anything, I can't explain Bonnaroo. It is like an out of body experience (and I no longer do drugs) if you are a music lover.
I like ALL kinds of music, but at my core I am a "jam" band kind of guy. And at its core that was how Bonnaroo started off as (and still is). But alas, well they have music of many other kinds. I recall the first years I went, in 2004, seeing Danger Mouse (kind of hip hop, electronic) go on at midnight and play until the sun rose.
Below the fold a band call Pretty Lights.
Update: If you watch the below video it is clear there are not a lot of "sober" people in the crowd. At this event I am the former guy that spent summers in the 80s following the Dead. I always have lots of coolers of water, fruit, and well things I wish somebody would have given to me when I was tripping balls at a Dead show. Camping near me is "fun."
When I go to Bonnaroo I always take the map of the stages and spend a ton of time on Google trying to figure out where to go and who to see. I had heard Pretty Lights was a show I shouldn't miss.
Wow, wow. wow!
I've seen some amazing stuff at Bonnaroo, but honestly they almost tore the place down with their set. Enjoy.
