The corporate beatings will continue until voter enthusiasm improves
Rinse, wash, repeat
Elect Dems. Watch Dems govern like the Republicans we rejected last decade. Watch Dem voters reject GOP ideas proposed by Dems. Watch Dems lose elections badly after screwing over their base in favor of the special interests who fund their campaigns. Watch Dem insiders blame Dem voters for not clapping loud enough while the Dem Establishment screwed them over in favor of "bi-partisanship" and Big Business interests, instead of blaming Dem leaders who adopted GOP policies that the Dem base was certain to reject. Watch Republicans take power. Watch Republicans govern like abortion obsessed, gun crazed, homophobic wedge issue exploiting Corporate Lackeys who would starve your grandma if it meant Wall Street gets to make a bigger profit. Watch those Republicans lose badly. Elect Dems. Watch Dems govern like Republicans.

Today's episode in blaming the "Professional Left" for not clapping hard enough when Obama adopts a GOP policy as he is own is brought to you by PoliticusUSA.com with the clever title of The Professional Left Is Handing Republicans Precisely What They Want
It begins by blaming the liberal base for not showing up in 2010. This little gem could have came straight out of the mouth of Rahm Emanuel . . .
Prior to the 2010 midterm elections, emoprogs and the so-called professional left railed against the President because he failed to close Guantanamo, did not repeal Don’t Ask Don’t Tell, could not secure a public option, allowed the Defense of Marriage Act to stay in force, and personally imprisoned and tortured Bradley Manning. The first three so-called “failures” were not within the power of the head of the Executive branch, and the military arrested and imprisoned Manning for stealing sensitive Defense Department data and handing it to a foreign entity. Still, there were the Emos, provoking Democrats to “teach Obama a lesson” by sitting out the midterm elections and allow the most extreme group of idiots in history to waltz in and take control of the House of Representatives, and more tragically, seize power in several state governor’s races and legislatures.

For the past four days left-leaning websites have accused the President of “wanting” to be the Democratic President who destroys the New Deal, or that he is deliberately punishing retired and elderly Americans to curry favor with Republicans. Seriously? This President who staked his entire first term on an extremely unpopular healthcare reform law that gives 37 million Americans access to affordable healthcare, and pushed through the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act with no support whatsoever from Republicans wants to go down in history as the President that eviscerated Social Security?.

As usual, the problem isn't the Dem Establishment refusing to fight for what the Dem base wants, nope, the problem is the Dem base refusing to clap loud enough while the Dem Establishment adopts policies the Dem base has repeatedly rejected. The blame is not on Obama for making a concession. No, the blame is on Dem voters who are willing to fight like hell against policies that are antithetical to our core beliefs, ideas killing Social Security just a little bit for now or torturing Bradley Manning just a a little bit for now or whatever GOP policy the Dem Establishment would like to polish and claim that no it is not a turd because Obama likes it and what do you want Obama to fail?
The problem, as usual, is you ungrateful hippies and "emoprogs" who actually believe that Social Security adds NOTHING to the deficit because THAT IS TRUE. The problem isn't the bullshit the Dem Establishment is pushing, it's your gag reflex. Your gag reflex is the problem. This argument sounds like what Richard Nixon's head screamed in Futurama when he said "I'm meeting you half way you stupid hippies"
At least Nixon's head bothered to play me a folk song before expecting me to clap after insulting me.
More rant below the fold
Half way between Obama and a Republican is a Republican, and if I was pro-torture, anti-whistleblower who was determined to kill social security in the name of Entitlement reform I WOULD HAVE VOTED FOR THE ZOMBIE EYED GRANNY-STARVER.
And we can no longer meet the GOP half-way, we can't meet the super rich half way in their demands, not after 30 years of class war that has impoverish 95% of America while enriching only the top 5%, and mostly the top 1% and .01%. There is nothing left to steal. Except the social safety net. The special interests, the big corporations and their DC lapdogs have gotten everything they wanted, their decade of tax cuts under Bush, their two wars, their bailouts, their bonuses, their wealth, there is simply nothing left to split in half, and the more the special interests get the more ludicrous their next demand becomes, for fucks sake we haveprivately owned debtors prisons in Georgia. What more can poor people give to meet the demands of these crazed Wall Street barbarians?
So here are the Democrats. Again. Fresh off of a massive national electoral victory and immediately ceding power to the GOP by not pushing real filibuster reform and adopting parts of the Paul Ryan budget that I just voted against five months ago. I once heard it said that the GOP fears their base and the Democratic Party hates it base. The problem for the Democratic Establishment is that the entire reason I vote Democrat is because I reject the GOP agenda, and the more the Dem Establishment adopts GOP framing and policy preferences the less I am inclined to vote for Democrats. And the more the Dem Establishment tries to shore up future campaign contributions the less it means to be a Democrat. That's what a "Dem Voter Enthusiasm Gap" is, it's when Dem voters aren't buying the bullshit Dem flaks are selling.
But instead of not selling bullshit that benefits their campaign donors alone, against the economic interests of 99% of the Dem base, the intellectually lazier strategy is to "punch the hippy".
Fucking spare me.
The GOP has a problem. They can't stay racist and appeal to growing minority demographics at the same time. The Democratic Establishment faces a similar problem, they can't fuck over the working class in favor of the Special Interests who fund their campaigns and expect the working class to consistently vote for a Democratic party that increasingly sounds like the GOP minus bigotry. The problem isn't the fictional "Professional Left", the problem is the Democratic Party has become the new Republican party and the Republican party has devolved into a dying subculture trapped in the 1890s.
But keeping whining about how those stupid hippies aren't clapping loud enough. How dare they offer constructive criticism or point out that you are needlessly giving away the farm for the umpteenth time? Elect Dems. Watch Dems govern like the Republicans we rejected last decade. Watch Dem voters reject GOP ideas proposed by Dems. Watch Dems lose elections badly after screwing over their base in favor of the special interests who fund their campaigns. Watch Dem insiders blame Dem voters for not clapping loud enough.
