I hope everyone is having a good Sunday! I am working on 3 projects, one of which is even finished.
The finished project is my first top down sweater. It has had some issues. The major one is that I am doing this as a class at a knit shop and for reasons I don't know, they used a self-striping yarn. IMHO horizontal stripes do not look good on most people. Still it has been a good learning experience. Below is the finished short sleeve sweater.
Follow below the fold for more discussion of things I learned.
Don't use self striping yarn! As you can tell this yarn goes from dark to light quickly. I don't like that look. Also for the sleeves, the teacher said that it didn't matter that they likely wouldn't match at the ends. I tried to get them to match as best I could without buying another skein of yarn for $22. I like top down sweaters now that I've tried it, but I would suggest always using a monochromatic / mildly shaded yarn.
Second project is a new log cabin quilt throw for the living room. Below are two pictures of the blocks in progress. One a partial block, the second, two double blocks laid together (not sewn yet).
I am hoping to have this throw done in the next month.
My last project is getting ready for the RT Booklovers Convention in Kansas City. I will be pitching to several agents and will have promotional material for the two books, The Last Princess of Atlantis and To Kill an Eidolon, that I already have. They are both biotech thrillers, but I will be pitching an Elizabethan murder mystery. I am going with my niece who is writing YA. It should be a fun time and a stressful time. I am trying to get together a costume for one of the "balls" as well as finalizing my pitch.
To close I am adding a pic of Shiner holding down the sweater so it can't run away.
What is anyone else working on?
