A called my senators (Warner and Kaine) a last week and gave the message that I didn't want them to vote for The Cyber Intelligence Sharing and Protection Act (CISPA) or any other legislation that would jeopardize my fourth amendment right to privacy. A few minutes ago, one of my facebook friends shared the message: "CISPA is Dead!" I'd like to think that my phone calls helped them to reject the bill. Mark Warner seems pretty susceptible to the dark side, so we Virginians need to keep after him.
The Senate will not vote on a cybersecurity bill that passed the House earlier this month, according to two Senate staffers, dealing a blow to a measure that sparked opposition from privacy advocates and the White House.

Even if the Senate gets something done, Rogers and other CISPA supporters will likely have to compromise more than they've been willing to over the past year as Obama has made it clear he will veto legislation that doesn't have more privacy protections.

While CISPA might be dead for now, I'm sure we're going to see similar legislation emerge again in a month or two.
