I bought this at the estate sale of a watch dealer.
It is clearly meant to be screwed to the bench. Most of it pivots around the middle.
760 grams. 190mm.
The business end. It has obviously never been used and force is not an element of its operation.
The handle rotates to set the depth.
These came with it. Including the one mounted there are fourteen in all. Two of them are marked 2c. Of the rest five have the suffix 'a' and are rectangular in profile and five have the suffix 'c' and are round in profile. 2.5, 3, 3.5, 4, 4.5, and 5. Probably not a complete set.
They are keyed to the gear and turn with it. The center piece they face is also keyed but in a different manner and it does not turn.
This seems a trifle wrong. In America the abbreviation is 'Pat' rather than 'Patt'.
Might be a date code on the left.
It says 'Made in France' Obviously hand stamped. Heavy impression at the bottom and double struck for ill effect. I need to get an off camera flash.
There are no other markings to be found.
