There's a diary on the rec list right now that calls out all of us who have been making fun of Michele Bachmann or Ted Cruz or Rand Paul or John Boehner or Mitch McConnell for "reacting to GOP Propaganda." This isn't the first of these diaries, either. I'd just like to know how the diarist learns about the news. If the diarist is paying attention, than it should be clear to the diarist that, except for a few people on MSNBC the rest of the news media takes the people we make fun of very very seriously. This is not "reacting to GOP propaganda," it's trying to cut through the media clutter to show how false the GOP propaganda is. Especially now that we understand how tweeting or facebooking can amplify the impact of what we write here can have.
Until the situation is fixed, and the vast right-wing noise machine is brought to its knees, the lies ARE the subject, and they HAVE to be the subject. What we do by presenting them and explaining why they are lies and telling the truth is the subject as well.
How can you tell this is a liberal blog? We snipe at each other, and we cricize what other people here write. Frankly, would you have the material for a diary if people weren't making fun of the Republicans?
I have to leave in half an hour to teach about, among other things, Iran-Contra, Pat Buchanan's speech at the 1992 Republican Convention and the impeachment of Bill Clinton. Twice, in 2 hour and 45 minute segments. Yes, I'll be discussing GOP propaganda to expose it for what it is. That's how telling the truth works.
