Received this e-mail from the League of Conservation Voters that both attacks Gubernatorial candidate Attorney General Ken Cuccinelli (R. VA) and fundraises for U.S. Senate candidate, Congressman Ed Markey (D. MA):
In Virginia, we’ve got Ken Cuccinelli: Current Attorney General of Virginia. 2013 Candidate for Virginia Governor. Unapologetic, vehement climate change denier.
He’s at war with climate science. As Virginia AG, he used state funds to run a frivolous witch hunt against an environmental science professor dragging the University of Virginia through a wasteful legal battle.
He’s also attacked environmentalists - calling them “watermelons: green on the outside and red [communist] on the inside.”
Polls say Cuccinelli is within points of becoming Virginia’s next governor. Make no mistake, this race could go either way, but if we rally environmental support from around the country right now we could be a deciding factor.
Donate to the LCV Victory Fund today and send a message to Ken Cuccinelli: You are on the fringe and you will lose if you reject the sound science of climate change.
Help LCV Victory Fund defeat climate denier Ken Cuccinelli in Virginia and elect climate champion Ed Markey in Massachusetts. We need your help. Please chip in $5 today:

At the other end of the climate action spectrum is Massachusetts Rep. Ed Markey.
Ed Markey has been a committed leader on climate change, including helping write the landmark American Clean Energy and Security Act. And his impressive voting record has earned Markey a remarkable 94% lifetime score on LCV’s National Environmental Scorecard.
We need more devoted climate champions in the Senate and that’s why we are all in for Ed Markey. The special election for the Massachusetts Senate seat is scheduled for June 25th -- that’s just 36 days away.
But we need to work quickly to help Ed. Some polls have this race as close as 4 points -- this could still go either way -- and your support could make all the difference.
Donate to LCV Victory Fund. Electing Ed Markey to the U.S. Senate and defeating Ken Cuccinelli for Virginia Governor will send a strong message across the nation -- stand up for climate action or face the consequences at the ballot box.:

Thanks,

Markey I feel pretty confident about winning the special election on June 25th to fill Secretary of State John Kerry's (D. MA) Senate seat but the Virginia Governors race between Cuccinelli and Terry McAuliffe (D. VA) could go either way. The latest Quinnipac poll has McAuliffe with a slight lead over Cuccinelli but Cuccinelli's campaign may have lucked out recently:

Ken Cuccinelli II is launching his first television ad since being named GOP nominee for Virginia governor on Monday, featuring the widow of a slain Fairfax County police officer, who endorses the attorney general.
The 60-second spot will air statewide, campaign officials confirmed on Sunday. The campaign would not say how much the ad buy cost.
Officer Michael Garbarino was mortally wounded in May 2006 when an 18-year-old mentally ill man drove to the Sully District police station and fired 70 rounds. Michael W. Kennedy was shot to death by several officers in a gun battle that also killed Detective Vicky O. Armel.
In the ad, the Garbarino family recalls Cuccinelli’s constant support after the shooting. - Washington Post, 5/19/13
However, Lt. Governor candidate, Rev. E.W. Jackson (R. VA), may complicate things for Cuccinelli's campaign:

A nominating convention helped put Virginia Attorney General Ken Cuccinelli on the gubernatorial ballot. It might also sink his chance to win.
Nominating conventions turn out the most committed and partisan members of the party. Lt. Gov. Bill Bolling, a more moderate Republican, dropped out of the race for governor because he knew the convention would favor Cuccinelli. And at the convention this past weekend, Cuccinelli won — but so did the Rev. E.W. Jackson, lieutenant governor candidate and a fiery conservative. Within hours, news organizations had dug up scores of controversial comments made by Jackson about abortion, homosexuality and the Democratic party. Among other things, he has compared Planned Parenthood to the Ku Klux Klan and referred to gays in the military as “sexually twisted.”
All that could be a problem for Cuccinelli, who is tacking to the middle in his campaign against Democrat Terry McAuliffe. His focus is on the economy, not the social conservatism that fueled his own rise in GOP politics. Jackson’s place on the GOP ticket gives fuel to Democrats who aim to paint Cuccinelli as an extremist.
“We’re in a deep [expletive],” said one Virginia Republican strategist. “The only good news is that the Democrats have Terry McAuliffe. It’s the only thing keeping us glued to a chance of victory.” - Washington Post, 5/20/13
But we can't solely rely on Jackson tanking Cuccinelli's campaign. If you'd like to help defeat these Tea Party extremists, please click here to donate:
