Turnout in today's statewide primaries (both parties) in Pennsylvania could be even more pathetically lower than usual.
In my suburban Philadelphia county (Montgomery county) ward, 4 1/2 hours after the polls opened at 7am, I was voter number 25 (out of 1809 registered), a turnout of only 1.38%. That's a total of 25 voters in both party primaries (looked to be 18 Rs and 7 Ds so far).
Polls are open for 13 hours (7am to 8pm) and after one-third of the total hours turnout is only 1.38%!
In the November 2012 general election 1325 voters turned out - 73.24%.
Odd numbered year primaries usually get low turnout - in the teens - but this is unusually low.
There is a statewide judgeship primary (Superior Court), county level judgeship (Court of Common Pleas), school board, tax collector and a few other offices on the ballot.
