So the GOP either feel like it can do WHATEVER it wants in this tough, red, panhandle district and it JUST DOESN'T MATTER or....he's hiding something. Either way this guy:
is missing in action and Democracy demands that he FACE his opponent, defend his positions publicly and let The People decide.
Here's our guy, Jeremy Lau.
Jeremy currently serves as president of the International Association of Machinists and Aerospace Workers, Local 2777. He has been a resident of House District 2 since 2004.
“I was born in Atlanta, and spent my youth and teens in Gettysburg, PA, which I loved. But the beauty of Pensacola and the welcoming nature of its people made the Florida panhandle home.”
He's running in a tough district, for sure. But I think the fact that the GOP fails to show up for a debate is exactly why we need to support ALL Democrats in ALL districts. See, this GOPer didn't expect to have to defend his policies. Like too many of his fellow republicans nationwide, in red districts they go UNOPPOSED. This is harmful because the public never gets an alternative viewpoint - the GOP walks into office never having been subject to public scrutiny.
THAT HAS TO STOP. That is how and why our country drifts rightward - nobody ever gets to hear an opposing view.
So Mr. Lau, win or lose, is a already hero and an example to all Democrats everywhere.
But I'm not willing to concede loss.
Help Jeremy FIGHT.
You can see his platform here. He favors worker's rights, public education and a sensible approach to substance abuse. He wants to protect the retirement system from a state GOP determined to kill it and bring jobs and suppliers in for manufacturing businesses in the area. This would be an great improvement for the Florida Panhandle. He needs your support.
Visit his site and see if you can't chip in a buck or two or ten. The special election is June 11. if you can't donate, please share this on your social networks.
Thanks
