Wal-Mart Stores Inc. (WMT) is turning up the pressure to keep its shelves adequately stocked by proposing to tie executive compensation to the issue -- and has asked an outside auditor to alert workers which items to focus on by plastering U.S. stores with neon green dots.
Earlier this year, Bloomberg News reported that Wal-Mart had trouble keeping its stores stocked as it cut back on workers per store. That has cost sales and driven away frustrated shoppers.

It seems to me that adding a few people back into the stores and paying them enough to want to do the job right might be more effective than [even more] executive comp. But no, in the Wal-Mart world good things happen when you pay the executives more.
Don't they know that if there aren't enough people around to do the work, it won't get done? So if the focus shifts to stocking the shelves, then cash registers will not be manned, or shoppers won't be helped, or the restrooms won't be cleaned.
Silly people.
